Namibia is more than a safari. I think I would still recommend east Africa for first timers. But Namibia was varied and amazing.

Drier and more desolate area but offered interesting historical sites to visit such as the World Heritage site at Twyfelfontein and the Petrified Forrest.

Here you can meet with the Desert elephant and many other animals. Beautiful mountain ranges and scenery.

Damaraland is interesting for its strange landscape, with conical hills scattered over the countryside. I'm told that Namibia is the part of Africa that was once connected to South America before the continent split off, so this geological event can be seen in the landscape. In terms of wildlife, other than the seals on Cape Cross, the wildlife here is mainly in the form of reptiles such as desert chameleons, lizards, snakes or spiders. What mammals there are in the desert are small, like mice.

Amazing scenery here, for us there was not so much wildlife after being to Etosha,
but we got to see some desert elephants as well as lizards and birds - also very few tourists so great bush vibe!

Very harsh landscape and driving over dusty roads in the middle of nowhere

Damaraland is very interesting culturally as you can learn about the Damara people and how they lived. There are also beautiful landscapes, the Grootberg plateau being one of the highlights on my trip. There is also some wildlife, however relatively scarce due to the dry terrain.

Damaraland is rather barren and dusty, the wildlife are the illusive Desert Elephant (which we did not see) however, we were the only people staying at our campsite so had all the facilities to ourselves.
