Day 2

Nairobi to Aberdare National Park

Nairobi to Aberdare National Park

Pick up after breakfast from your Nairobi hotel and depart heading north to the Kenyan Highlands through Thika pineapple plantation. At town of Karatina, you will make a visit the colourful market, tour the beautiful tea and coffee plantations in the foothills of Mount Kenya. Then continue the trip to the delightfully placed Aberdares Country Club for lunch in glorious surroundings that really captures the atmosphere of colonial Kenya. Today is for relaxing in the beautiful surroundings; you can use the swimming pool, play tennis, or go horse back riding. Accommodation and meals are at the hotel. Overnight stay will be at the Aberdares Country Club.

Day 3

After breakfast you will depart for a hike in the beautiful park. Here you will be able to meet giraffe, zebra, eland antelope, warthog, impala, and baboon. After lunch you will continue driving into the heart of the dense Aberdares forest to the tree lodge, The Ark, which offers the best experiences of wildlife in Kenya's lush Highlands. The Ark was recently renovated to give this classic safari lodge a stylish and fresh atmosphere. The lodge there has a direct view of a pond with elephant, buffalo, antelope, rhino and leopard coming from the dense forest to drink. Today at this lodge you will have your first safari experience of Kenya. A warm sweater may be useful when the nights can be chilly. Overnight stay will be at The Ark Lodge.

Day 4

After breakfast, leave from Aberdare National Park heading north via the Equator line to the remote northern frontier district to experience the very dry and beautiful areas of Samburu Game Reserve and buffalo’s spring. You will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. Many veteran African travelers consider this area the "real" Africa, where the great species variation provides ample opportunities for incredible experiences. In the afternoon after lunch you will have game drive looking for animals rarely seen elsewhere from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras, Beisa oryxes, and giraffe necked gazelle (gerenuk), and the Blue-necked Somali Ostrich. It also boasts the highest Elephant Population in Kenya. The scenery is unrivalled – numerous hills, valleys and scrublands stretching to the horizon. This reserve offers the best chance of seeing the Elusive Leopard along the riverine forest. Overnight stay will be at the Samburu Sopa lodge.

Day 5

Enjoy early morning game drive when the wild animals are still active before the heat of the day sends them to hiding before returning back for breakfast and spend the rest of the morning at leisure by the lodge pool or the terrace overlooking the river. After lunch you will return to the reserve for another game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight stay will be at the Samburu Sopa lodge.

Day 6

Samburu to Lake Baringo

Samburu to Lake Baringo

After an early morning breakfast, you will head from the lush highlands to the west to the Great Rift Valley and the small but lovely Lake Baringo. We will stop at Thomson falls for lunch. The drive exhibits some of the beautiful landscapes of Kenya. Baringo and Naivasha are the only freshwater shallows in the Kenyan Rift; the large fresh water body is a shelter for more than 400 bird species that give the area its main attraction. The lake is a quiet and solitary oasis embedded in the abrupt and arid land that foresees the northern deserts. Birding around Lake Baringo is interesting by the fact that we spend most of the day outside the car. Overnight stay will be at the Baringo Island Camp.

Lake Baringo is increasingly attracting more visitors because of its plentiful bird life and Lake Bogoria is a place where visitors can enjoy the spectacular African scenery in full solitude. Depart Lake Bogoria to Lake Nakuru with a shallow alkaline lake famous for its flamingo population estimated to be more than a million hence it is referred to as the ‘Birds Paradise’ by bird watchers. Arrive at around 12.30 pm and begin a game drive en route to lodge for check in and lunch. Relax till 4.00 pm where you will head on for another game drive and nature walk along the lake shores and return back to the lodge before sunset. There are no elephants in the park but the other big five can be spotted including tree climbing lions, the white and the black rhinos which are endangered species in Kenya, the rare Rothschild Giraffe, Cape buffaloes, Waterbucks, Gazelles, Leopard and primates etc can be spotted as well at the park. Overnight stay will be at the Lake Nakuru Lodge.

After breakfast proceed on a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, known for its prolific bird life including flamingos. Later you will drive to freshwater Lake Naivasha, where you will arrive in time for lunch at the lovely and beautifully situated Sopa Lodge. The rest of the day is for relaxing by the hotel pool and for going on a boat ride on Lake Naivasha before sunset. You can view the lake's impressive bird-life and many hippos. The lodge is situated directly on the lake in a uniquely beautiful garden where you can catch water bucks, antelopes, zebras and sometimes giraffe and a wide variety bird life. Lake Naivasha is often visited by giraffes, antelopes, zebras and water bucks that come to graze. Hippos also come on land during the evening. Since the hippos often make their way right up to the rooms and grasses, you are not allowed to go out during the night without a guard. Overnight stay will be at the Naivasha Sopa Lodge.

After breakfast, leave lake Naivasha for Masai Mara - an extension of Tanzania Serengeti National Park also known as The 7th Wonder of the World because of the Great migration, witnessed every year between June and September when millions of wildebeests and zebras cross Mara River from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya in search of food and water and it is famous for its wide variety of resident wildlife all year round. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive where you may have a chance of seeing the ‘Big Five’ different varieties of birdlife. This is serene vast country of breath-taking vistas, a panorama of vast rolling plains and rounded hills of intermittent groves of acacia woodlands and dense thickets of scrub. The Mara River and its tributaries which are margined by luxuriant riverine forest bisect the whole land. Overnight stay will be at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

A full day is spent at the Maasai Mara game reserve plains in search of the big cats- black manned lions, cheetahs and leopards. You also have a chance to see other plains game like the Topi, Buffalo, Hippopotamus, Common Zebra, Coke's Hartebeest, White-bearded Gnu, Oribi, Warthog and Thomson's and Grant's Gazelles. The bird life of Mara is as profuse as its mammalian fauna. Game drives are flexible, with the option of going with safari picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire day in the wilderness, or you can choose to have early morning and late afternoon game drives. You can also participate in the Hot Air Balloon Safari at a cost of $520 over the plains at an extra cost which is a great way of seeing the length and stretch of the park as well as enjoying the views below. Your also have an optional to visit a Masai village at a cost of $25 to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. Overnight stay will be at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

We will enjoy an early morning game drives at 06.30hrs in search of wildlife and then return to our lodge for breakfast and checkout around 10.00hrs. Later leave for Nairobi with stopovers for lunch and/or at curio shops for souvenirs or view features of interest spotted on the way. Arriving Nairobi is in the afternoon. We will drop you at your Nairobi hotel or we transfer you to JKIA Airport for your flight back home or to your other destination.
