Day 1

Entebbe - Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Entebbe - Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You will be picked-up and depart from Entebbe, traveling through the villages of rural southern Uganda to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You will arrive in time for lunch and then explore the visitor center, cool off in the lodge pool and settle into your accommodations. Later in the afternoon, you will embark on a rhino trek. This is a great opportunity to see these magnificent beasts in a controlled environment where the rhino are free to roam within 24 hours a day in the guarded sanctuary. 100% of the entrance fee goes to support the Rhino Fund Uganda, established to preserve the endangered rhino population. After your tour, you will drive to the Amuka Safari Lodge where you will check-in, enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night in this splendid reserve.

Day 2

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will check-out and head into Murchison Falls National Park. You will travel through the ancient Budongo Forest before reaching the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley and the expansive views across the savannah and woodland of Murchison Falls National Park will open up to your view. You will take your packed lunch to the ‘top of the falls’, where the mighty Nile shakes the ground beneath your feet as it rushes, tumbles and froths its way through a seven meter gap in the escarpment while you enjoy eating your lunch. After exploring the top of the falls area, you will embark on a wooded game drive as you make your way to the Murchison River Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park

After an early wake-up call, you will enjoy a hot drink and some fruit before you cross the Nile to the delta area for your sunrise game drive. On this adventure, you will see lion, elephant, giraffe, and possibly leopard and hyena. You will return to the lodge for lunch and then begin your cruise to the foot of the falls. On the way, you will search the riverbanks for hippo and crocodile as well as a wide variety of spectacular waterbirds. Along the banks there’s a chance to see buffalo, warthog, elephant and antelope. Once at the foot of the falls, you will stop at a large rock to experience the power of the mighty river before slowly making your way back to the boat launch. You will drive back to the lodge in the late afternoon where you will freshen-up, have dinner and settle in for the night.

Day 4

Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, you will check-out and have one last chance to see the park’s wildlife as you head out of the north-eastern corner of the park. Your journey will take you through the bustling ‘capital of the north’, Gulu. You will stop in Gulu for lunch. After lunch, you will head north to Kitgum and enter the Kidepo Valley National Park. This drive will take you through an increasingly mountainous terrain before finally bursting through the mountain pass into the beautiful Kidepo Valley National Park. You will arrive at the Kidepo Savannah Lodge where you will check-in, have time to climb Amapuis Rock viewpoint and then return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 5

Kidepo Valley National Park

You will rise before dawn, and enjoy breakfast while you watch the sunrise over the Morongole Mountains. After breakfast, you will begin your day on an amazing game drive with a visit into the Narus Valley in search of lion, elephant, giraffe, eland, zebra, and leopard. You will marvel at the huge herds of buffalo grazing in the wetland. You will return for lunch at the lodge and then head towards the Kidepo River in search of cheetah and ostrich. You will return to the lodge in the mid evening to enjoy dinner while taking in the stunning view as the sun sets. After dinner you will settle in for your overnight stay.

Day 6

Karamoja

After an early breakfast, you will check-out and prepare for today’s journey. Depending on road and weather conditions, the route will either take you through the eastern section of Kidepo and south through the stunning Karamoja landscape through Moroto or driving through Kitgum and Soroti. You will visit the vast reserve of Pian Upe on the southern Karamoja plains and enjoy one final game drive where you have the chance to see ostrich, cheetah and hyena. The road conditions can be very poor, so we do not guarantee that we can make the trip to the reserve. Your evening will end at the Hunters Camp where you will check-in, have dinner and settle in for your overnight stay.

Day 7

Entebbe

Entebbe

After breakfast, you will check-out and enjoy your final game drive in this seldom visited, but very pleasant Pian Upe Reserve. At the right time of year, you may find cheetah, hyena, giraffe and eland. After this game drive, you will continue your journey, skirting Mount Elgon and crossing the Nile; arriving at Entebbe in the evening. This is where your safari will end.
