Day 1

Upon arrival at the Entebbe Airport, you will be met and greeted by our guide before being transferred to your hotel. This guest house is situated in a wonderful location with great views of Lake Victoria. It is run by friendly locals and has a good Internet connection. This is the best place to start your safari!

Day 2

Entebbe - Jinja

Entebbe - Jinja

After breakfast you will drive to Jinja to visit the source of the River Nile. Jinja is the second biggest town in Uganda and is a wonderful place to walk around and visit the local markets. Most of the buildings in this town are pre-colonial (some have been repainted but are still beautiful). Your overnight stay will be at the Nile Porch.

Day 3

Jinja - Sipi Falls

After an early breakfast you will drive to Sipi Falls, arriving in time for lunch and a hike. A local guide will take you through the nearby villages up to the waterfalls. You will see incredible views along the way and have plenty of interactions with the local people. Your overnight stay will be at the Home of Friends guest house.

Day 4

Sipi Falls - Murchison Falls National Park

Sipi Falls - Murchison Falls National Park

After an early breakfast you will drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way you will stop in Kumi to visit the Nyero rock paintings before eating lunch at a local restaurant in nearby Lira. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Fort Murchison.

Day 5

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park

You will start the day with an early morning game drive in search of lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, and a variety of other wildlife. Later you will go on a boat trip along the River Nile to the top of the waterfalls, where you can expect to see a variety of different water birds, including African fish ingles, kingfishers, red-throated bee eaters, African skimmers, and others. You may also see a crocodile! Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Fort Murchison.

Day 6

Murchison - Kibale National Park

Murchison - Kibale National Park

After breakfast you will drive about seven hours to Kibale forest. This is a beautiful drive via the Lake Albert Escarpment and past the tea plantations. You will stop for lunch at a local restaurant and then walk through a local market for fruits and vegetables. Your overnight will be at the Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 7

Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park

After breakfast you will head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center at 8:00am to being your chimpanzee trek. You will spend three hours in the lush Kibale forest on this journey. Along the way you’ll see some of the interesting residents of the forest, including various primates such as l’hoest monkeys, blue monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, and the red colobus monkey. After an hour or so of scouring the forest you’ll eventually come face-to-face with the chimpanzees and observe them play, feed, and care for each other. After lunch you will go for a walk along the Bigodi wetland with a local guide. Your overnight will be at the Kibale Forest Camp.

Today you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way you’ll stop at the Equator for the famous water trick. Later you’ll have lunch and then go into the park for an afternoon game drive in search of lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, antelopes and more. Dinner and your overnight stay will be the Bush Lodge.

After an early breakfast you’ll head out on another game drive in search of wildlife you may have missed the previous day. Later you’ll eat lunch and then go on an afternoon boat trip for about two hours on the Kazinga Channel. Expect to see lots of elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, fish eagles, herons, kingfishers, pelicans, and more. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Bush Lodge.

After breakfast you’ll drive to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you’ll be on the lookout for the tree climbing lions in the fig trees. You’ll also see lots of Uganda kob, topi, spotted hyena, and elephants. Later you’ll eat lunch and then continue on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is the day you’ve been waiting for—the day you will meet the mountain gorillas! After an early breakfast we will prepare a packed lunch. Porters are available to help us during the trek for a $15 fee. The journey can take 3-4 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Because this may be a long hike some reasonable amount of fitness is required. Your overnight stay will be at the Ride 4 a Woman guest house.

Today you will make your way to Lake Mburo National Park. You will eat lunch in Mbarara before arriving at the park and checking in at Rwakobo Walk. Later you will go on a two-hour nature walk. Expect to see impalas, water bucks, bush bucks, warthogs, zebras, water buffalo, and more. Dinner and your overnight stay will be Rwakobo.

Today you will go on a morning game drive and then transer to Nkima Lodge. Along the way you will stop at the Equator to do some shopping and eat a local lunch (you can even participate in the water trick again if you wish!). Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Mabamba Swamp

Mabamba Swamp

Today is a free day. We highly recommend you visit the Mabamba Swamp in search of the rare shoe-bill stork and other water birds, including kingfishers, African jacana, and bee eaters. If time allows you may also visit the botanical gardens. Later you will freshen up in the hotel before transferring to Entebbe for your flight home.
