Day 11

Diani Beach

Diani Beach

You will explore the city of Mombasa on the Swahili coast. Mombasa and indeed all of the Swahili coastal areas have a distinctively different feel than the inland towns and cities. This difference comes from the strong Arabic, Indian and European influences, due to their position on the trade routes. These influences can be found in everything from architecture to food and even religion. On vacation in Diani Beach, a bustling resort town on Kenya's eastern coast, you can take advantage of a pristine sandy shore fringed by a verdant forest. Diani Beach attracts a variety of travelers from families with children, young couples, surfers, and partygoers. Besides snorkeling, kitesurfing, and other water sports, popular activities include trips to the nearby nature and day tours of Mombasa. Use our Kenya tourist route planner to arrange your visit to Diani Beach and any other destinations. After today’s activities, you will return to your villa for dinner and your overnight stay.

Diani Beach

Diani Beach

Today’s adventures include several options from your choice of relaxation on the beach or snorkeling at your choice of four places:

Mwanamochi - An exciting coral head on the reef that often has huge amounts of small reef fish. We often see turtles and sometimes the odd manta ray on the dive.

Kisima Mungu - A long drift dive on a gently sloping reef. Although not very rich in coral life it is well known for sightings of seldom-seen fish such as ghost pipefish, guitar rays, leaf fish, turtles, and very occasionally whitetips lying in the sand further out from the reef.

MFV Funguo - a craft that ran aground on the reef outside Kilindini Harbor. She was salvaged and was then sunk by Diving The Crab and Dream Diving or

Kaskazi - an artificial reef off Diani Beach. A must for any experienced diver. Nitrox recommended.

Later in the evening after your choice of activity, you will return to the villas for dinner and your overnight stay.

Often on our way to dive sites, the boat will slow down to play with a school of friendly dolphins or the gentlest of giants, the whale shark. You can take part in the "Open Water Diver" course. This is a comprehensive beginners course involving 5 theory lessons, 5 pool lessons, 4 open water dives, and a snorkel session.
