Experience the classic savannah wilderness of Meru
Depart Nairobi early morning for Meru (4 hours by road), a classic savannah wilderness with a diversity of habitats ranging from semi-arid, riverine, forest, swamplands and grasslands. You’ll arrive for lunch at the Rhino River Camp, a small luxury tented camp of only six cottages set in 80 acres of wilderness set next to the Meru national park. Each canvas cottage is built on a wooden deck and has a private veranda. The camp also has a beautiful pool, lounge area and restaurant, meal times are not set and the menu is varied with a hint of Italian! After lunch you will head into Meru for a game drive, there are some fantastic game viewing opportunities here including cheetah, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk and the distinctive reticulated giraffe as well as the Big Five. You’ll spend the next day exploring Meru, with its great views of Mount Kenya, savannah wilderness, riverine habitats and prominent inselbergs, notably Mughwango and Leopard Rock; offering some great photo opportunities.

Track down leopard in Samburu
After breakfast, you’ll leave Meru and head for Samburu, a park rich in wildlife with its rare northern species known as the Samburu 5, which include; the gerenuk and Beisa oryx. Samburu is a very scenic but lesser known park and is situated along the Uaso Nyiro River that attracts wildlife in from the surrounding savannah plains. This is a semi-arid area and can become quite hot but the park is rich in wildlife and is home to a number of large predators including cheetah, lion and leopard. You’ll head to Intrepids Camp, arriving in time for lunch. The camp is set on the banks of the great Uaso Nyiro River, each tent sits on a raised wooden deck overlooking the river where the elephants sometimes make an appearance or the crocodiles come out to lounge by the river banks and the restaurant serves a high standard of food from its’ a la carte menu. After lunch you'll head out on a game drive and then spend the next day exploring the reserve and searching for the elusive leopard!

Lion tracking in Ol Pejeta
After breakfast, you’ll depart from Nakuru and continue your journey onto Laikipia and the Ol Pejeta conservancy, which is located on a vast plateau and has the highest density of large mammals in Kenya; including unusual species such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra and the Lelwel hartebeest, there are also seven rhino sanctuaries here and you may be lucky enough to see the now rare black rhino. You’ll spend two nights at the stunning, luxury Sweetwaters tented camp, set on the foothills of Mount Kenya - and with amazing views and close proximity to wildlife, it’s a wonderful place to stay. You’ll spend your time here on game drives during the day and night exploring the conservancy and an early morning guided lion-tracking experience, there will also be time to just relax in camp and watch the wildlife at the camp’s watering hole.

After breakfast and an early morning game drive you can relax a while in camp before heading back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch (3.5 hours). End of tour.
