On arrival at Blantyre International Airport you'll be met by our guide for your road transfer to Mkulumadzi (approximately 2.5 hours) through local villages, agriculture as well as bush. The camp is located on the confluence of the Shire and Mkulumadzi River within Majete Wildlife Reserve, 70km South West of Blantyre - Southern Malawi. Majete is Malawi’s only Big 5 Reserve and also one of the largest protected areas and covers an area of over 70,000ha. The reserve is located within the Miombo woodland ecoregion and much of the higher lying areas in the west of the park are dominated by Miombo/Brachystegia woodland. Mixed Combretum woodlands and mosaics of riparian forest can be found in the East of Majete. You may have an opportunity for an activity today, depending on your arrival time.

Day 2-3
Game drives, boating and bush walks

The luxurious lodge is in a stunning location and activities include game-drives, boating safaris, bush walks, hiking Majete Hill, black rhino tracking, cultural tours, birding trips on the Shire River and game-viewing from a hide. Guests are free to be as energetic or as idle as they please although at least one activity per day is encouraged to best enjoy Majete.
The lodge has eight superb chalets, each with spacious living quarters and private viewing deck. Guests can swim in our pool, dine under the stars, enjoy river cruises, game drives and walking safaris, and even sleep under the stars on our new star-deck.
Undiscovered by tourists, Majete is a true wilderness where every trip into the bush with our team of experienced guides will feel like an adventure.

Day 4
Transfer to Thyolo Mountains
Transfer to Thyolo Mountains
After breakfast you will have a road transfer to Huntingdon House on the slopes of Thyolo Mountain. Huntingdon House is situated on the Satemwa Tea Estate; literally stepping back in time. The house was built in the mid 30's and have five spacious room. The aim of the owners is to give all guests a unique and personal experience and an insight to the special life on a Tea Estate in Africa.
Huntingdon and indeed Satemwa Estate, evokes a romantic nostalgia for Malawi's past. By African standards, 100 years of history is seldom found. Every tea field, tree and building on this estate shares a tale and you are invited to enjoy a glimpse of a bygone era in this rapidly changing continent.
Food is important at Huntingdon House where the owners source local fresh produce, including fresh milk and cream from the estate's dairy herd and lots of our vegetables are grown in their own organic garden. Menus change daily and with the season and all food is freshly prepared.

Day 5-6
Thyolo foothills - Satemwa Tea Estate

These are two full day to explore the surrounding area; tour of the tea factory, visit to the Mount Mulanje Massif (it rises to 2,380m above sea level) or perhaps a short hike to Dziwe la Nkhalamba rock pool and falls. You set your own pace of how you want to spend your days.

Day 7
Transfer to Nankumba Peninsula
Transfer to Nankumba Peninsula
Road transfer to Pumulani on the Nankumba Peninsula of Lake Malawi. One of the most beautiful shores of the Lake and borders Lake Malawi National Park, established to protect the cichlid fish unique to the area, the park is a World Heritage Site. Pumulani is on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula, surrounded by national park. The ten villas are dotted on the hillside with spacious bedroom, bathroom and sitting area with sliding doors onto the elevated deck with fabulous views over the lake. This remote beach setting is perfect for relaxing in the sun and swimming in the clear blue waters of the lake. There are two infinity pools, one in the gardens and one at beach level. If your looking for activity, try your hand at the water sports on offer - snorkelling, fishing, sailing, kayaking and waterskiing. (Non-mortorised sports are complimentary.) At the end of the day climb aboard the dhow and let our experienced local crewmen take you sailing into the sunset.

Day 8-10

Lake Malawi is the world’s most ecologically diverse lake. Its crystal clear waters are home to more than a thousand species of fish, including hundreds of species of colourful cichlids.
We offer special diving courses at the best diving spots near one of the islands. For those who are interested in the real Malawian village life we offer guided walks through one of the local villages. Malawians are renowned for being among the friendliest people in Africa and during your stay you will have the opportunity to meet them. You can also simply relax in the beautiful and tranquil scenery or can enjoy the many other activities.
