Day 1

Dar es Salaam - Kigoma - Gombe Stream National Park

Dar es Salaam - Kigoma - Gombe Stream National Park

You will be picked up and transferred to Dar es Salaam Airport for your flight to Kigoma at 09h30. Arrive at Kigoma Airport at 11h40. On arrival, you will transfer to Kibirizi Port for your 2-hour boat trip to Gombe. We will pick you up upon arrival and transfer you to the camp at 14h00 for a hot lunch. Afterwards, proceed with chimpanzee tracking in the forest.

Gombe Stream’s main attraction is the protected chimpanzee families living within the park’s boundaries. Visitors walk deep into the forest to observe and sit with the extraordinary primates for an entire morning. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe Stream’s tropical forests. Vervet and colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and dik-diks inhabit the dense forest, as do a wide variety of tropical birdlife.

Day 2

Chimpanzee Tracking in Gombe Stream National Park

At 08h30, you will start chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe became well known for the conservation project started by Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe in 1960. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe Stream’s tropical forests, including vervet and colobus monkeys, as well as baboons. If time allows, climb to Jane’s Peak and visit Kakombe Waterfalls.

Day 3

Flight from Kigoma to Dar es Salaam

Flight from Kigoma to Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, you will be picked up and transferred by boat back to Kigoma town. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. You will depart at 12h50.

Note: Flights to other destinations, such as Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, etc, are available upon request at an extra cost.
