Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an Action Packed Safari

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an Action Packed Safari

The Ngorongoro Crater is a veritable fishbowl filled to the brim with a diverse array of wildlife, the hollowed out remains of a shield volcano which one stood higher than Mount Kilimanjaro, the Roof of Africa, which erupted two million years ago to create the twenty one kilometre wide national park we know and love today.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants abound, along with one of the densest population of predators in the world, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south western corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here.

After leaving the Ngorongoro Conservancy, we will drive you to Manyara Safari Lodge.

Lake Manyara National Park; Tree Climbing Lions, Hippo, Buffalo, Monkeys, and Birds

Lake Manyara National park is a serenely beautiful vibrantly verdant forest teeming with wildlife, including tree-climbing lions, and an abundance of elephants which Ian Douglas Hamilton, the famous Scottish explorer and naturalist, studied extensively to provide the world with a great deal of elephant behavioural research.

Lake Manyara is an alkaline lake and often hosts thousands of flamingos, along with a diverse array of other bird life, along with a great number of hippos that love bathing in the shallow salty water of the lake where they spend their day quietly snoozing in a great big pod near the boardwalk, a long wooden walk way that lets visitors climb out of the safari car to stretch their legs and walk out across the lake without getting wet to get close as possible to the sleeping animals from a position of perfect safety.

Lake Manyara National Park is gorgeous and should not be missed!
