Johannesburg to Camp Shawu - Kruger National Park
This morning you are picked up by your Mmilo Tours guide. Our route takes us through the agricultural and mining areas of the Highveld and continues via the Mpumalanga escarpment into the sub-tropical Lowveld and onto the Kruger National Park.
We will arrive at the entrance gate of the Kruger National Park in the early afternoon and travel the short distance to Camp Shawu, game viewing as we go. Lunch is enjoyed on arrival. Camp Shawu is situated on the Mpanamana Private Concession, within the Kruger Park and is legendary when it comes to experiencing unforgettable African safaris that evoke mystery, wonder and above all else, adventure. The camp is positioned overlooking the Mpanamana Dam.
Later this afternoon, your first exciting game drive in open 4X4 vehicles is enjoyed. At dusk, sundowners are enjoyed deep in the bush, after which the drive continues, making use of spotlights to search for nocturnal animals.
Dinner is enjoyed at the lodge on your return from the game drive.

Camp Shawu - Wildlife Viewing at its Best - Kruger National Park
You'll have an early wake-up call signal that starts another exciting day in Big Five territory. Depart on an early morning safari after which you'll return for breakfast.
The Kruger Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and is best known for the 'Big Five'. Kruger has an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa.
Camp Shawu is situated on a 15 000 hectare private concession in the Kruger Park. Private decks overlooking the Mpanamana Dam, allow you a privileged view of game gathering to drink.
Later this afternoon and into dusk, another safari in open 4x4 vehicles is undertaken. You will return to the camp restored and rejuvenated - having absorbed the magical energy and spiritual presence of the bush.
Enjoy a delicious South African dinner on your return to Camp Shawu.

Camp Shawu - Semi-Tented Camp - Kruger National Park
The Mpanamana Dam attracts large densities of wildlife. Camp Shawu is named after one of the most famous African elephants, Shawu. Shawu was one of a group of elephants known as the Magnificent Seven. The Shawu bull roamed the valley near Camp Shawu for sixty years and had the longest tusks ever recorded in South Africa.
The concession is legendary when it comes to experiencing unforgettable African safaris that evoke mystery, wonder and above all else, adventure. The camp offers unparalleled ‘Big 5’ game viewing, superior service and excellent cuisine..
Camp Shawu can accommodate 10 guests in 5 very large rooms overlooking the Mpanamana dam. All the rooms at Camp Shawu are luxuriously equipped with a romantic ball and claw bath, a sitting area facing an open fireplace, ceiling fans and an outside shower. A large verandah with reclining chairs is the perfect spot from which to watch the game come down to drink.

End of Safari
After a final open vehicle game drive and a late breakfast, you are picked up from the lodge and transferred back to Johannesburg. You'll be dropped off in the late afternoon at a location of your choice at around 18h00.
A light lunch on the way back to Johannesburg is included.
*You have the option of a transfer from Camp Shawu to Nelspruit Airport (MQP) for a flight to your Johannesburg or Cape Town. There is one daily flight between Nelspruit and Cape Town and afternoon flights between Nelspruit and Johannesburg.
