Day 1

Entebbe - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Entebbe - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will travel westwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a brief stop at the Equator for an opportunity to stand in two hemispheres at the same time and take some memorable photographs. After this stop, you will continue through the beautiful rolling hills; stopping for a lunch break in Mbarara Town. After lunch, you will continue your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will arrive in the late afternoon and check-in at the Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 2

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Lake Bunyonyi

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, you will check-out of the lodge and drive to park headquarters for a briefing about today’s trek. Your trek guides will take you through thick creepers and undergrowth to find the gorillas. You will have one hour to sit among the gorillas. After your time with the gorillas, you will travel to Lake Bunyonyi. The drive will take you through the country often referred to as “the Switzerland of Africa” due to its unique cool weather, despite being near the Equator. Lake Bunyonyi is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharziasis free. You will check-in at the Hawk’s Eye Lodge, have dinner and settle in for the night.

Day 3

Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast you will check-out of the lodge and head to Kibale Forest National Park, arriving in the early afternoon. On the drive, you will enjoy an impressive sight of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon”, clearly seen on the road to Fort Portal where you will stop for lunch. After lynch, you will continue on to the Kibale National Park where you will tour the unique Bigodi Swamp. On this tour you will see uncommon plants and rare bird species such as the Great Blue Turaco, Bulbul, Rwenzori Turaco and the Narina Trogon, among others. Later in the evening, you will check-in at the Kibale Forest Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4

Kibale Forest National Park - Kampala

Kibale Forest National Park - Kampala

After breakfast, you will head to Kibale Forest National Park. Your first stop will be for a trek briefing. You will then set off to search for the chimpanzees in the forest. You will see other primates such as Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Phoestes, Red-Colobus and the Blue tailed and the Red-tailed monkeys swinging in the branches of this thick forest as you search for the chimps. Your guide will share information on the lifestyles of the primates you will be coming across and on the plants, insects and butterflies in this forest. After your time with the chimps, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then check-out and travel back to Kampala. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, you will be dropped off at your designated lodging. This is where your safari will end.
