Day 1

Bulawayo to Matobo National Park

On arrival at Bulawayo International Airport, you will be met by our Zambezi Expedition team through Bulawayo city, this is about a twenty-minute drive with a stop if you need a quick shop. You will then travel to Luxury Amalinda Lodge, this will be about a 45-minute trip. This exclusive, privately owned safari lodge is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Matobo Hills, the oldest National Park in Zimbabwe, tucked away into an ancient Bushman’s shelter.

You will check-in, unpack, and then re-assemble for an afternoon game drive through the park looking for the rare rhino. You will return to the lodge at sunset and enjoy a pampered and relaxing evening, with scrumptious meals, drinks, and enjoyable time spent around the fire.

Day 2

Matobo National Park

Matobo National Park

You will be up at sunrise this morning to enjoy the spectacular color change of the surrounding granite boulders as they get hit by the sun's first rays. You will enjoy breakfast and then travel to the World Heritage Site, Matobo National Park, about a thirty-minute drive, you will then enjoy game viewing and see numerous species of animals and birds. Matobo National Park and its surrounds are known to have one of the highest densities of leopard populations in Zimbabwe. Hopefully, you can catch a glimpse of this elusive big cat. Rhinos are usually seen with our record being 13 in a day. There is a stunningly beautiful lunch platform where you will stop to enjoy the view and have a picnic lunch. On the return journey to the lodge, you will visit the grave of a man well known for his exploits throughout South Africa and Zimbabwe, Cecil John Rhodes. You will be back at the camp just before sunset and enjoy the awesome views with a traditional sundowner before another fantastic meal.

Day 3

Matobo to Hwange National Park

Matobo to Hwange National Park

This morning, you will enjoy a relaxed start with breakfast at 7 am. You will then check out and depart for Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe`s premier national park. The journey will take approximately three and a half hours depending on stops, and you will enjoy lunch once you arrive at the stunning Hwange Safari lodge.
The lodge has a beautiful viewing hide situated next to a waterhole where you may encounter elephants and other game such as buffaloes at close quarters. On occasion, lions have been spotted here as well. You will enjoy time viewing the game from the lodge and then depart for an afternoon game drive at around 3 pm. You will visit the wonderful Nyamandlovu Pan platform. Here, you may see many elephants and a wide variety of game drinking. You will enjoy some snacks and a traditional sundowner. You will then head back to the lodge and freshen up before enjoying a traditional African BBQ and sharing stories of the day around the campfire pit.

Day 4

Hwange National Park

This morning, you will be up at sunrise and enjoy coffee and a quick bite before you depart to explore Hwange National Park. You will start with a game drive towards an area called Kennedy looking for lions, this is the area where the famous” Cecil the Lion” lived and you may see his former pride or relatives. You will then spend some time exploring the plains and marvel at the sight of giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and buffaloes as they go about their daily routines. You will then stop at a picnic site for lunch, to rest up and enjoy game viewing away from the vehicle before starting the return leg towards the main gate and back to Hwange Safari Lodge for the evening. This will be a fantastic and rewarding day with many spectacular wildlife sightings. If you are lucky, you may enjoy exhilarating up-close sightings of the Presidential Elephant Herd by the waterhole.

Day 5

Hwange to Victoria Falls

Hwange to Victoria Falls

This morning, you will have a relaxed start and view the wildlife from the camp before you enjoy a hearty breakfast. You will then depart for the Natural Wonder of the World, Victoria Falls. The drive usually takes about two and a half hours and on arrival in Victoria Falls, you will check into Ilala Lodge. Here, you'll get to relax and have lunch (own expense) or just enjoy the views. In the afternoon, you will arrange a guided walk through the beautiful rainforest on the edge of the gorge and enjoy the spectacular views of Victoria Falls. This usually takes about three hours and you need to dress to get wet! The mist can be pretty awesome and almost like a rain shower. There are some great curio stands at the entrance to the Falls the staff loves the traditional bargain and you will surely end up with some great pieces to take home. You will return to the lodge in the late afternoon and enjoy a sunset cruise on the banks of the Zambezi River before a scrumptious dinner.

This morning, you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. You will then check out and depending on your flights you may want to do some last-minute shopping or enjoy a walk around town. When you are ready, you will arrange to collect you and transfer you to the airport to catch your flight.
