Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara

We will pick you up at your hotel in Nairobi early in the morning. We can also meet you at the airport (JKIA) if your international arrival is scheduled in the morning. After a safari briefing by our professional driver-guide, you will depart for Masai Mara by road, making a brief stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint along the way. The Masai Mara is home to over 500 bird species, a rich mammal diversity, and home to some of the most spectacular ecosystems in Kenya.

You will check in at the safari lodge on arrival, have lunch, and then have an early afternoon relaxation. You will then go for your first game drive inside the national reserve. Later in the evening, you will return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. For a little extra cost, you can enjoy an evening around the fireplace as Masaai cultural dancers entertain you.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive will last about 6 hours. You will arrive at Ziwa Bush lodge in time for lunch. You can spend the early afternoon at leisure, then proceed for a game drive inside the national park from around 4 pm until sunset.

Lake Nakuru National Park houses the famous Lake Nakuru - one of the soda lakes in the Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru is 1,754 meters above sea level and is renowned for the pink flamingos, the park’s most popular attraction. It is perfect for game viewing, especially the black rhino which was re-introduced to the park in the 90s as part of conservation efforts for the endangered species. You are also likely to spot the white rhino and the tree-climbing lions! Birders will have plenty of reasons to smile as the lake is a haven for birds. Dinner and overnight stay at Ziwa Bush Lodge. Barbecue lovers can get a bush barbecue treat for an extra 30 USD.

Day 3

Take an early breakfast at the lodge, and then proceed to Amboseli National Park for a drive of about 6 hours. You will stop for lunch at a restaurant in Nairobi. You'll arrive in Amboseli in time for an afternoon game drive, then check into AA lodge Amboseli for your overnight stay just before sunset.

Amboseli National Park is situated south of Nairobi and is legendary for its large elephant herds, other herbivores, and scores of bird species. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lakebed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland. Around the swamps of Ol Okenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. Here, you are likely to see lots of herbivores as they graze. On a clear morning, you can catch a remarkable glimpse of the towering Mount Kilimanjaro.

Optional: Guests can visit the local Maasai community and experience their authentic, nomadic culture.

Wake up to an early-morning game drive. Return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and drive to Nairobi to catch the 3 pm SGR train experience to Mombasa. At the Miritini train terminus, our courtesy car will await you for the onward transfer to Diani, arriving in time for late dinner at Southern Palms Beach Resort. Southern Palms Beach Resort sits at the edge of the Indian Ocean on the gorgeous, renowned Diani Beach. Opened in 1992 and most recently renovated in 2019, it’s an oasis of calm just 35km south of Mombasa. Modern amenities complement the warm Swahili and Arabic décor throughout the property. Today, no activities are planned, and guests are expected to unwind after yesterday's extensive travel. You have the whole day to spend at your pleasure. You can decide to relax at the beach or enjoy many water sports and other activities. If you would like, we can arrange guided tours to nearby attractions in Mombasa and the surrounding areas at an extra cost.

Some suggested extra activities (not included in this safari's costing but can be pre-arranged or procured onsite) include visiting the Kaya Kindondo Cultural Forest, snorkeling, sky diving, scuba diving at Kisite Marine Park, or even playing golf at the nearby leisure golf club.

Day 6

Diani - Kisite Mpungute Marine Reserve - Diani

You'll go on a full-day cruise aboard a traditional sailboat and enjoy 2 snorkel stops on the coral reef at Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. Be on the lookout for dolphins and turtles as you cruise through the marine park. The day includes a light breakfast, a Swahili-style seafood lunch, and free-flowing drinks on scenic Wasini Island. The trip highlights include a Swahili cultural experience - travel in a traditional dhow, enjoy snacks, drinks, lunch, and an open bar. Enjoy Kenyan coffee, tea, and morning snacks on the boat, watching for dolphins, turtles, whale sharks, and humpback whales during the crossing.

Snorkeling equipment and life jackets are provided. You have time to take in the remarkable marine wildlife on the coral reefs, including the shoals of fish, moray eels, stingrays, etc. Later, head to Wasini Island for a freshly-caught crab and fish seafood lunch. You can then relax on the beach or in the garden before returning to shore for your transfer to your hotel.
