Day 1

Kigali- Akagera National Park, Afternoon Boat Ride in Ihema Lake, Night Game Drive

Kigali- Akagera National Park, Afternoon Boat Ride in Ihema Lake, Night Game Drive

Leave Kigali by 7:30 am with a stop-over at Imigongo Art Center and Cafe for leg stretching, viewing Imigongo arts and using the washrooms. You may also opt to buy a cup of coffee or anything else there. Reaching Akagera National Park by 11:30 am, proceed with registration formalities and head to Akagera Game Lodge for lunch. After lunch, drive through the park to Ihema Lake, the largest lake in the park and the second largest in Rwanda. Enjoy the boat ride and explore crocs and hippos. After the boat ride, we will head to Akagera Game Lodge for check in and getting ready for the 5:30 pm departure for an evening/night game drive in search for nocturnal animals. Have dinner by 9:00 pm, order the next day picnic lunch and stay over for tomorrow full-day game drive.

Day 2

Full-Day Akagera National Park Game Drive

Full-Day Akagera National Park Game Drive

Have your breakfast early, check out and be ready at 7:00 am for pick-up by our diver-guide, ready for a full-day game drive. Pick the picnic lunch and spend the whole day exploring the majestic Akagera National Park, home to a variety of savannah wildlife. Akagera National Park has a diversity of wildlife including buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas and many others. After a long time being extinct in Akagera National Park, the black rhinos and lions have recently been restocked. Their sighting is always not guaranteed due to their small number and the hiding character of the black rhino. Enjoy the game drive viewing the natural habitat of different animals, birds and enjoying the view of different lakes and landscape. Finally, exit the park, drive to Mantis Epic Hotel & Suites for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

After the breakfast by 8:30 am, drive to the Volcanoes National Park. You'll pass through the off-beaten paths from the North-East to the Northern Province, home to the mountain gorillas. Pass through Musanze town before heading to the stay-over lodge at the feet of the Volcanoes, Davinci Gorilla Lodge or Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge.

Day 4

Mountain Gorillas Experience

Mountain Gorillas Experience

Have an early breakfast and leave the lodge by 6:15 am to reach the Volcanoes National Park slightly before 7:00 am and proceed for registration. A gorilla group and a park guide will be assigned for briefing at 7:00 am and you'll depart for the mountain gorillas. Spend one hour with the mountain gorillas. The return time depends on which group of gorillas they assign to visit. Some groups are as close as in one hour from the feet of the volcanoes, others are in several hours to the point that you may come back to the feet of the Volcanoes by 3:00 pm or beyond. If the time allows, enjoy the traditional Iby’iwacu Cultural Centre performance (now called Gorilla Guardians Village for an estimated 1hour). Have Lunch and head back to Kigali to arrive in the evening.
