After breakfast at the hotel, start the drive to Lake Manyara National Park (approx 2 hours) with splendid views of the Great Rift Valley wall. After entering the gate, your first encounter will probably be spotting large troupes of baboons. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Lake Manyara is an alkaline soda lake which is home to an incredible array of birdlife that thrives on its brackish waters. Pink flamingos stoop and graze by the thousands of colourful specks against the grey minerals of the lake shore. Yellow-billed storks swoop and corkscrew on thermal winds rising up from the escarpment, and herons flap their wings against the sun-drenched sky. Even reluctant bird-watchers will find something to watch and marvel at within the park. Other large animals are elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hippos and antelopes. Have lunch at a picnic site and afterwards, in the afternoon continue with a short drive to Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 3

Serena Manyara - Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Serena Manyara - Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, we'll depart towards the most famous national park in the world, the Serengeti. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. We'll stop at the Loduare gate entrance to the Ngorongoro and continue for a brief stop at the crater viewpoint then proceed to the Naabi hill gate for lunch and paperwork. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local Maasai language, "endless plains". The plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. As for big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. Millions of wildebeests and zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May, and June. Serengeti is truly home to the legendary great wildebeest migration. Arrive at the lodge late afternoon for dinner and your overnight.

Main Destination:
Serengeti National Park
Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)
High Season July to March (The Seronera area is crowded)

Serengeti National Park - Whole Day Exploring What the Endless Plains has to Offer

Serengeti National Park - Whole Day Exploring What the Endless Plains has to Offer

This is a full day in the Serengeti National Park. We are completely flexible with your preferences and this day will be organized according to your wishes. Every day of the safari, your guide will discuss with you the best timings, including for game drives and the wake-up time. For example, on this day, you could do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive. Alternatively, you could do a full day game drive with a picnic lunch. On this day you have an option to make the most of your time at Serengeti by adding a sunrise hot air balloon ride to your vacation (extra cost), which lets you view the plains and wildlife from a perspective many never experience. In the late afternoon, drive back to the camp for dinner and your overnight. It’s not easy to spot hyenas during the day as they’re most active at night. But if you listen closely after dark—or really at all—you’ll likely hear their eerie cries in the distance.

Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

On this day we suggest a very early wake up in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you'll ever witness. We'll have a morning game drive and leave for the Naabi hill gate. Have lunch at the gate and then proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th Wonder of the Natural World. The crater spreads for 102sq miles and has 2,000ft high walls, making it virtually Noah's ark. It inhabits almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It's one of the very rare locations on the whole continent where you can witness the black rhino. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It's also famous for its elephants which are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World. The lodge is located at the rim of the crater (2100m) with a stunning view of the crater. Your overnight is at Serena Lodge.

Main Destination:

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, we'll drive to Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The river of the park is full of wildlife ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and, of course, elephants. In fact, the park has the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and provides unique chances to observe the interaction between elephant families which can often be seen congregating by the river. Tarangire has many massive baobab trees and the grassland, swamps and floodplains found here are home to big cats, giraffes, baboons and hippos, plus many more species. Tree-climbing lions and rock pythons are other local specialities.
