Day 1

Transfer to Kibale National Park

Transfer to Kibale National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast after which you will be met by your guide. You will be transferred from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe to Kibale Forest via Fort Portal, enjoying great views on the way. You will have an en-route lunch. When you arrive at the park, go for a visit to the beautiful crater lakes area. You will also get a chance to see the terraced tea estates.

Day 2

Chimpanzee trekking & transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, set out with the driver guide to the park headquarters for a chimp-tracking experience. You will be briefed about the rules and regulations. At around 8:00 am, start chimpanzee trekking through the rainforest guided by the park rangers. Along the way, you will also spot other primate species, birds, and mammal species such as forest elephants. When you finally find the chimpanzees, enjoy the thrilling 1 hour with the chimpanzees. See them face to face and watch them engage in their daily activities like playing, jumping feeding, etc.

Later, go back to the lodge and have lunch before you check out and embark on your 3-hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is home to a diverse amount of wildlife. You will arrive in the evening and have a game drive through the park on the way to the lodge.

Day 3

Game drive & launch cruise

Rise early and have a cup of coffee before you set out for a game drive. You will see some early risers along the Kasenyi track such as elephants, antelopes, solitary buffaloes, lions, warthogs, and leopards. After the 2 to 3-hour drive, head back to the lodge for a late breakfast and lunch in the afternoon.

Later, go for a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is one of the most exciting experiences on the water where you get close to crocodiles and schools of hippos. You will also see elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, and several waterbird species among others. Return to the lodge, freshen up, have dinner, and overnight.

Day 4

After breakfast, start on your journey to Bwindi going through the Ishasha sector with a chance to see the tree-climbing lions and many other wildlife species. Along the way, you will enjoy nice landscape views. Have lunch en-route and arrive at the park in the afternoon. Have a relaxed evening and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5

Bwindi Forest - Gorilla trekking & a visit to the Batwa Community

Today, you will get up early for breakfast and thereafter your driver-guide will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing. Remember to carry your passport, packed lunch, enough drinking water, and have the right clothing (most importantly, good hiking boots). You will arrive by 7:30 am and be briefed about what to do and not do while trekking. You will then be led by the ranger guides through the misty jungle. The trekking usually takes between 3 to 8 hours (sometimes even a full day), depending on the location of the gorillas. When you see them, it will be a great and fun time as you watch them for the permitted 1 hour.

After the trek, head back to the lodge and have lunch. In the evening, prepare for a community visit among the Batwa people in the evening.

Departure and drop-off

After breakfast, set off for Kampala and have lunch in Mbarara. You will have a stopover for photos at the equator where you can also buy some souvenirs. Continue to Kampala, arriving in the evening. This is the end of your 6-day gorilla wildlife safari.
