Day 1

Arrive at Lusaka Airport where you will meet your guide & other Wild Zambia travelers. We then head across to Pioneer Camp, just on the outskirts of the Capital City and relax this evening on Dinner, Bed and Breakfast before an early departure tomorrow.

Day 2

Lusaka to Mkushi

Lusaka to Mkushi

After breakfast we depart North, out of Lusaka and towards Mkushi. It's about a 6-hour drive along the Great North Road. Mkushi is a delightful farming community with intimate farm shops that we'll explore on our way should time allow. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch enroute today and arrive at Forest Inn around midafternoon where there's a chance to see flying squirrels. Night here on dinner, bed and breakfast included.

Day 3

Mkushi to Kasanka National Park

Mkushi to Kasanka National Park

We depart Mkushi this morning and make our way up to Kasanka National Park. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch enroute and arrive mid-afternoon at the Pontoon Campsite.
Here we unpack the vehicle and set up camp. The Land & Lake team will be available to help you set up your tent and sleeping cots. There's no electricity and the campsite has a simple toilet and hot showers are provided by the campsite assistants.
You're traveling with a camp cook who, while you relax will host afternoon tea and coffee before you head out for a game drive to explore the area. Return to camp in the evening and enjoy a 3-course camp dinner from your Land & Lake chef before settling in for the night.

Day 4

Kasanka National Park

Kasanka National Park

Wake early to catch a glimpse of the shy Sitatunga that frequent the wetlands in front of the campsite. Enjoy a light breakfast before heading off for a game walk with a Kasanka Scout and your Land & Lake guide. Return to a brunch cooked by your Camp chef and relax in the campsite during the heat of the day. After tea and coffee this afternoon, head out on a game drive. Wild Zambia 2 aligns with the Straw-Colored Fruit Bat Migration that floods the Kasanka Sky during October and November.
Return to another delightful 3 course dinner and relax this evening to the distant sounds of hippo and bushbabies!

Day 5

Kasanka to Bangweulu Wetlands

Kasanka to Bangweulu Wetlands

It's all hands on deck to break up camp this morning after breakfast and pack the vehicles. We depart as early as we can and make our way down gravel roads to Bangweulu Wetlands. Enroute we swing past the David Livingstone Memorial center where it's believed he died and his heart was buried before his body was carried to Dar es Salaam and subsequently shipped to England.
We enjoy a picnic lunch enroute at Lake Waka Waka and on to the open plains for Bangweulu.
We set up camp in the community campsite overlooking the plains and if there's time, head out for a game drive to explore the area.
Enjoy all your meals cooked by your Land & Lake camp chef and activities with your Land & Lake guide.

Day 6

Bangweulu Wetlands

Bangweulu Wetlands

This morning we head out for a Shoebill walk. This elusive species can be a challenge to find and sometimes means driving to another area, wading through swampland or taking a canoe across the channels. After your adventurous morning, relax back at the camp and then head out for an afternoon game drive. The plains are flooded with water birds, black lechwe, jackal and occasionally hyena.
Enjoy your Camp chef dinner and night under the Bangweulu stars.

Another day to enjoy Bangweulu. Possibly another chance to head out in search of the Shoebill, or take a slow game drive across the floodplains to enjoy the myriad of life surrounding this incredible landscape.
Enjoy your meals with your Land and Lake Camp chef and activities with your Land & lake guide and a member of the Bangweulu community that help protect the area.

Day 8

Bangweulu to Kapishya

Bangweulu to Kapishya

All help to breakdown camp after breakfast where we take a slow drive to Kapishya Hot Springs. After the gravel road, we make it back on the Great North Road. We'll stop in Mpika which is one of the larger towns in the area for a supply run and to re-fuel. We'll continue our journey and stop for a picnic lunch on the way.
As we drive into Shiwa N'gandu estate, we'll stop to explore the area before continuing on to Kapishya Hot springs.
After setting up camp, enjoy relaxing in the warm waters of the springs and the surrounding lush gardens. Tonight, we'll have dinner at the lodge and settle into our campsite for an evening listening to the running river nearby.

Day 9

Kapishya to North Luangwa National Park

Kapishya to North Luangwa National Park

After breakfast and breaking down the camp at Kapishya, we take a longer drive down the Luangwa Valley escarpment and into North Luangwa National Park. It's about a 6-hour drive through a handful of rural villages and then into the game reserve. We'll stop and enjoy a picnic lunch enroute and arrive at North Camp around late afternoon.
Here you'll be shown to your chalets where you can relax.
Your Land and Lake Chef will cook up a storm in the camp tonight and you'll enjoy dinner overlooking the Luangwa River to the distant calls of lion, leopard and elephant.

This morning we'll head out with your Land and Lake Guide and a game scout from North Luangwa for a walking safari. Enjoy a light breakfast before you head out and return to a home-cooked brunch. Relax during the heat of the day at the camp and after tea time, head out for a game drive and sundowner drive.
Return to enjoy dinner and your last night in North Luangwa National Park.

Day 11

North Luangwa to Luambe National Park

North Luangwa to Luambe National Park

We take a slow game drive through North Luangwa and then across the Luangwa River on the pontoon. It's then an enjoyable drive through rural villages towards Luambe National Park. Just before we get into Luambe, we turn off into the community campsite overlooking the Luangwa River.
Here we'll set up camp and enjoy your last night being treated to your Land and Lake chefs dinners.

Day 12

Luambe to South Luangwa National Park

Luambe to South Luangwa National Park

We'll break up camp for the last time and then make our way through Luambe National Park. it's a few hours through Luambe where we then head into the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park, past the natural hot springs and stopping for a picnic lunch in the park.
We'll arrive at Thornicroft late afternoon and relax in the lodge on the banks of the Luangwa River including all meals and activities with the lodge.

The End

It's the last morning. After breakfast you have two choices included in your departure day. You can either fly to Lusaka to catch your international flight out or join your Land and Lake guide back to Lilongwe, Malawi. Either extending your trip to Malawi or flying out of Lilongwe.
