Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara

Nairobi - Masai Mara

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive down the escarpment via the floor of the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Maasai Mara Game Reserve in time for an afternoon game drive. On this day you will have lunch in Narok Town. After lunch proceed on to Mara arriving early in the afternoon. You will check in to your room and proceed for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight are at a camp.

Day 2

Masai Mara Game Reserve

Spend the day exploring the park's incredibly high concentration of game. This game reserve is Kenya's finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra as well as the year round resident wildlife. The Mara has a gentle fertile climate and it is geographically bound by the rift. It covers some 1672 sq kms; an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 kms west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on game. Herds of immense elephants, lion, buffalo, Thompson's Gazelle, zebra, and topi. You may occasionally sight a rhino or leopard. In the Mara River, hippos play and cross bask on the banks. The annual migration of a million wildebeest follows the rains north. After exploring the park, return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha

Masai Mara - Lake Naivasha

Leave Masai Mara in the morning after the breakfast, proceed to Lake Naivasha where you will arrive in time for lunch. After lunch visit the lake and go for a boat ride which is optional at usd 30. Lake Naivasha has a variety of bird life as well as other wild animals. Explore the Lake for the whole of afternoon. Dinner and overnight will be in the hotel. This is one of the Rift Valley's freshwater lakes with different ecology from that of the Soda Lakes. It is also home to a large variety of bird species. After lunch, drive to the Crater Lake which offers an evocative step back in time to a bygone era of elegance and romance, in a wilderness untouched by the modern world. The Crater Lake offers classic escapes including painting, astrology, as well as ornithological outings to what must be one of the most beautiful small Lakes in creation. All meals and overnight are at the Taphe guest house.

Day 4

Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, visit the Hell's Gate National Park. This is the only park that you can ride a bicycle among the wild animals. Later in the afternoon, go for a boat ride in Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake which is also inhabited by birds and other game. The whole day is spent in Naivasha. Proceed and drive for dinner and an overnight in Nakuru in a budget hotel.

After breakfast, depart for Amboseli via Nairobi for lunch, arriving in the evening. If time permits you will also go for an evening game drive. Some of the species of Amboseli include elephant, lion, cheetah, giraffe among many other plains game animals. Amboseli lies at the floors of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight will be at the camp.

Day 6

Go for an early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast go for a full day game drive with a picnic lunch. Here you have the best chance of seeing the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro. After lunch continue with the full day game drive. All meals and overnight will be at Amboseli Campsite. Amboseli has an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro’s ice cap, which funnel into two clear water springs in the heart of the park. However, the climatic pendulum can swing from drought to flood, and in the early 1990’s ceaseless rain changed Amboseli into a swamp. A few years later the rains failed and the grass-covered plains turned to dust.
