Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The company driver picks you up from your hotel and drives to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is a long drive of approximately 8 hours with a lunch stopover en route. Even though the drive is long, you'll go through different landscapes including tropical rainforests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. You will arrive late in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Cultural Tour
After an early morning breakfast, and with your picnic lunch, you will take a short drive to the park offices for a briefing where you will meet the excellent local guides and trackers who give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. You will hike into the forest to where gorillas were seen the previous night and track from there. The terrain is rough and muddy calling for physical fitness. Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. It is recommended that you take plenty of water with you on the trek. Cameras and plenty of fast-speed films are recommended. Being a tropical rain forest, it may rain at no notice, hence need to bring with you waterproof clothing, including zip-lock bags for cameras and film. Others to come with include sturdy hiking boots, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat. The maximum time spent with the gorillas is 1 hour. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
Transfer Back to Kampala
After breakfast, you will start on the long drive back to Entebbe/Kampala with the memory of the great rare mountain apes. You will have lunch en route and a stopover at the equator line and Igongo cultural center, arriving late in the evening at Entebbe International Airport.
