An Encounter Like No Other
We rise early before heading to the ranger station. On arrival the rangers will select the family in which you will be tracking, depending on your requests, the distance of the family, and your fitness level. You will then receive a briefing from our lead ranger, who will go over the regulations and give you a briefing of the family members that you are about to meet.
A hike that can be fairly easy or very demanding depending on the location of the gorilla family that day. The trek can range from 30 minutes to 5 hours, before we encounter the family. Your rangers will inform you to prepare yourselves and your cameras, leaving walking poles and day packs behind. They then slowly lead you into the middle of the family where you will have up to 1 hour to enjoy this magical experience.
After our one hour is up we start our hike back to the ranger station, stopping to enjoy a packed lunch in the forest. We then head back to the Lodge to relax and reminisce of this special experience.

Gorillas From a New Perspective
After an early breakfast we head to the ranger station, where we will be assigned our tracking group. The lead ranger will give you a briefing about the family you will be visiting this day before we head out to make our encounter.
This second day of tracking provides you with a special opportunity to visit gorillas again. Often during the first experience participants are nervous about being around these large (but gentile) animals. Focused on trying to get a great picture to share on Facebook, the experience goes by far to quickly. The second tracking is often much more memorable as it is easier to put down the camera and simply enjoy.
Again, after tracking through the forest we will eventually encounter the family where we will have up to one hour in close contact. You now have the special opportunity to observe the animals, without the stress or pressure that you may have felt the previous day.
After our time is up, we will then make our way back to the ranger station.
