Transfer and Afternoon Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, your guide will be ready to take you on your adventure! You will be driven to Masai Mara National Reserve in a 4x4 safari Jeep customized for off-road driving and game viewing. Masai Mara is approximately 220km (136mi) from Nairobi City, and the drive takes about 6 hours. Along the way, we will stop at a viewpoint where you can take a break and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Great Rift Valley while taking pictures.

The next planned stop is Narok Town for a bathroom break and refreshments. This is a roughly 30 minutes break after which we continue with the drive to Masai Mara, with an expected arrival time before 3:00pm local time. Upon arrival, you will check in at the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge, followed by a breafing by your guide regarding the afternoon game drive schedule.

Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

Your game drive will begin early in the morning after breakfast. This full-day adventure includes a packed lunch to be enjoyed at a picnic site. The drive offers the best opportunity to spot the Big Five. In addition, you will have an excellent chance of seeing other common wildlife, such as spotted hyenas, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, zebras, wildebeests, hartebeests, topis, gazelles and impalas. Our professional guide will assist with animal identification, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

If you plan your visit between July and September, you may have the chance to witness the great migration, one of the seven wonders of the natural world. During this time, millions of wildebeests, zebras, and other grazers travel hundreds of kilometers from the Serengeti in Tanzania into Masai Mara National Reserve. Tourists from all over the globe flock to see this incredible spectacle each year!

Return to Nairobi

Shortly after breakfast, the journey back to Nairobi starts. Our driver will take you to a Maasai village (optional at USD 30 per person), where you will have the opportunity to learn about Maasai culture, traditions and norms. The journey continues with a stop at a curio shop along the way. You will arrive back in Nairobi by the evening, where our guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport.
