Day 1
In Antananarivo

Arrival at Ivato airport. You will be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel in the city. Overnight stay in half-board at Grand Urban Hotel L or similar, offering comfort and a pleasant atmosphere for your first night in Madagascar.

Day 2

After breakfast, departure for Ambatolampy across the highlands and its fantastic landscapes, adorned with traditional houses of the Merina ethnic group, made of laterite or red bricks. The place is also known for its craft workshops producing aluminum cooking pots.
Then, continuation to Antsirabe, known for its beautiful houses, monuments, numerous craft workshops, and colourful rickshaws. There is also the possibility to take a rickshaw tour for a city visit of Antsirabe. Overnight in half-board at Plumeria or similar.

Day 3

After breakfast, departure to Miandrivazo, which means "waiting place for a wife" in Malagasy.
According to history, King Radama I waited along the Tsiribihina River for his wife, who was none other than the daughter of the Sakalava king.
The journey takes you through the Menabe plain, also known as the “Big Red,” reminiscent of the Wild West.
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in half-board at Princess Tsiribihina or similar.

Day 4

Breakfast and transfer to the Masiakampy pier. Beginning of the descent along the Tsiribihina River by barge, with views of basaltic rock formations and aquatic birds throughout the Menabe region.
Spectacular entrance into the Bemaraha Gorges, carved into limestone cliffs approximately 50 meters high.
Lunch on board. Arrival at the sandbank near the village of Nosy Ampela, famous for its beautiful waterfall.
Overnight in full board at the camp.

Day 5

Continuation of the descent of the river, with a stop at the waterfall and the natural swimming pool for a swim. Arrival at the typical village of Sakalava Begidro, followed by a visit to the village with the program to see the plantation and the tobacco-producing factory. Baobabs and Pachypodium bicolor represent the flora of this region. The forest is populated by various species of lemurs, such as the Propithecus verreauxi and Lemur fulvus rufus, but also by bats and giant blue turtles (which are rather difficult to see). Moving on to Berevo, arrival, and accommodation in the camp along the river. Overnight in full board at the camp.

Early in the morning, this will be the last day of the descent. Arrival at Belo on Tsiribihina around noon. There, one of the most spectacular and interesting Malagasy rites takes place every five years: Fitampoha, or the “Royal Bath.”
After about one hour’s transfer by 4×4 to the village of Bekopaka (50 km), a coastal village of Manambolo, departure for the first visit to the National Park of the “Tsingy of Bemaraha,” an unusual site consisting of limestone peaks more than 30 meters high, classified as a World Heritage site by Unesco

Day 7
Bekopaka –Tsingy de Bemaraha and Gorge de Manambolo

Early departure to the Great Tsingy, located about 20 km from the camp, to explore the labyrinths of the Tsingy of Bemaraha, where you will walk through limestone cathedrals to reach the small gazebos overlooking the forest of karstic peaks, ranging from 20 to 30 meters high, and inside the beautiful caves. Picnic lunch.
The fauna consists of 13 species of lemurs, such as the “Aye Aye,” mammals like the fossa (“Vontsira,” a small carnivore endemic to the region), and the “Big Fisher,” an eagle endemic to Madagascar. The flora ranges from very dry on the limestone slabs to wet in the canyons, with up to 86% endemicity. The view is breathtaking from the top of the Grand Tsingy of Andamozavaky, if you don’t feel dizzy!

Day 8

Departure to Morondava with a picnic lunch on the way, passing by the Sakalava tombs, characterized by erotic statuettes. Then, drive through the “Andasonia grandidieri” territories, watching the baobab trees, one of the major natural wonders of the West.
Arrival at Morondava, the capital of the Menabe Kingdom, along the Mozambique Channel, surrounded by mangroves and lagoons.
Overnight in half board at Laguna Beach.

Day 9

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer by 4x4 vehicle heading south to Belo Sur Mer, a fishing village known for its shipyard, where skilled artisans build wooden pirogues and "botry" entirely by hand, following centuries-old traditions. These boats are used for transporting goods, relying solely on sails for propulsion. The village of Belo Sur Mer is charming, with its unique atmosphere, sand dunes, and salt pans. In front of the village lie some wonderful small islands, an ideal destination for snorkeling. The afternoon is free to explore the village, its beaches, and nearby islands, either on foot or via an excursion arranged on-site. Dinner and overnight stay at Belo Beach.
