Incredible, and unique Rhino viewing, which we can only hope will remain for many years to come!

This park is well situated in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal with beautiful scenery. The park rangers are excellent as well as all the other staff. The game is in abundance, good for photography as well as the game viewer.

This park has it all! Spend a few night at Mpila Camp and do self drives and you are likely to see a lot. As always you would be lucky to see leopards, but the rest of the big 5 is almsot a given. Cheetahs and wild dogs are alo not uncommon. Birding is excellent as well, with lots of birds of prey.

Wildlife is superb but can be patchy. Bush is very thick in parts. Some superb scenery. Have no yet stayed in reserve camps.

We spent four days at the Imfolozi reserve at Mpila camp, and it was great! Mpila is located on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Reserve from the bungalows. We saw both black and white rhino (whites every day), as well as elephant, lion, a dozen species of antelope (including nyala right outside our bungalow). The bungalows were nice, clean, and very reasonable cost-wise. Less crowded than Kruger, with the same excellent wildlife viewing. .. Birding was also great. We're from California and clocked about eighty species in the four days.

We spent an afternoon at iMfolozi and it was so amazing... For September it was quite warm, but breezy in the landrovers. Our driver was excellent and stopped on call as soon as someone spotted movement and always gave us plenty of time to get photographs. I never imagined I'd be so so close up to a cape buffalo or so many white rhinos. The elephant crossing was superb. Lots of giraffes up close and also baboons. We saw zebras in the distance. Our driver got a radio call about lions, so he took us directly to the site. No male lions, but the females were there, also got to see the rare Nyala, male, female and a calf. A fantastic experience. There were plenty of birds to see as well, Marshall Eagles, Bateluers and Ibis. All in all, a highly recommended visit, and I saw more wildlife there than I did at Kruger the day before.

Arrived straight from some of the magical spots in Kwazulu like Ithala and Cape Vidal so had high expectations. The park was great - very scenic and great accom at the Mpila? camp. Saw rhinos and lots of other stuff on a morning self drive. Only 'downside' was a pretty drunk honeymoon couple on a night drive but even that was entertaining in its own way...

All of the above was excellent so much wildlife to see and beautiful scenery. Is one of the most popular parks to visit and to see the big 5 is possible to see due to lots of wildlife and the size of the park. On our safari we saw lots and was delighted with the day considering poor weather conditions on and off. It soon brightened up and the whole experience was rewarding.

One of the best places to view wildlife in KwaZulu-Natal

One of my favourite parks in South Africa, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi has so much to offer visitors. It’s excellent Big Five territory, and the landscape, which varies from gentle woodland savannah to rugged flood plains, is beautifully wild.
Years ago, Hluhluwe and Imfolozi were two separate parks. Imfolozi became known as being ground zero for Operation Rhino, Dr Ian Player’s very successful initiative to bring the white rhino back from the brink of extinction. Today still, the park is a very good place to see white rhinos. Also in the Imfolozi section of the park are the famous wilderness trails, where you go out on multi-day walks through areas accessible only on foot. These walks are not for the faint-hearted, but should be on the top of every serious nature-lover’s bucket list.
Hilltop Camp, in the Hluhluwe section, is the park’s flagship camp. It feels something like a resort, with a busy restaurant (with incredible views out and down over the park) and shops, and there is a variety of accommodation available here. Throughout the park, there is a variety of accommodation that suitable to different size groups: rondavels, cottages and what once were warden’s houses.
The last time I was at Hluhluwe-Imfolozi I came across five collared wild dogs that had recently been released. They’d just killed an impala, and the twilight battle between the dogs and three hungry hyenas will always stick in my mind as a true indication of survival in the wild.
