Amazing experience with my 8-year-old son

It's the first time my husband and son had been to Africa. I went there before but for business - only for three days. It's not like we saw on TV (tragedies etc.). We went through Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania's business city. We visited the spice island of Zanzibar first before flying to Arusha and then Lake Manyara National Park - where my son had a blast.

Coming from Minnesota - it felt hot even though it's supposed to be one of their cooler months. But it gets hotter even in Minnesota. We loved the weather.

You can't expect to get the first world service in a third world country but I would say - we're really impressed with what we paid for. Plenty of wildlife, beautiful uncontaminated air, exotic food, very good and kind African people.

It's our best trip ever!! Going again in the next two years,

We didn't visit in the best season so wildlife wasn't the best but it was beautiful and I will definitely go back in a better season!

Lake Manyara seemed smaller to me than other parks, but had a wealth of birds and other wildlife, especially monkeys and baboons. I was there on an overcast and windy day which made for a different and fantastic experience.

Beautifully green and much vegetation, forest. There are very many Baboons alongside the road and in the trees. The other animals remain to bug extent hidden due to the dense vegetation .

More of a bush vibe where it's not easy to spot animals but you will still see plenty of baboons, elefants and even buffalos

At the time i visited (early February 2024) it was not easy to see animals at Manyara as the grass was long. I saw quite a few baboons, gazelles and birds, but not much else during an afternoon safari. However, Manyara is one of the few places where you can do a night safari. It was a completely different experience and well worth it. We saw several elephants, a leopard, giraffes, white tailed and pygmy mongoose, a genet, dik diks and impala. For this reason I would recommend a stop at Manyara.

Te area around the lake seemed very sad with all the dead trees.

Very nice forest scenery, good change with respect to the other parks. however, because of the dense forest, there is a little less wildlife easily visible than in the savannah biomes. still, lots of baboons, birds, elephants etc.
