The review below is the personal opinion of Lindsay W and not that of SafariBookings.
Sadly Disappointed.
2/5

I’ve been on mobile safari before, many times. This is the first time I’ve ever had so much anxiety on a safari and been so disappointed.

We paid for 6 nights safari, 2 nights hotel in Maun, 3 hour Mokoro ride and transport to and from the airport. We paid 7 months in advance.

3 days before leaving, we reminded them of our arrival. They asked us who was picking us up and where we were staying. That was their job. We sent them the invoice they sent to us where this was covered and they said they had it under control.

The day we were supposed to leave, our flights were cancelled (not their fault) but I tried to call and let them know of the updated flight. All calls went unanswered. They finally responded to an email saying they got the updated information and we wouldn’t get our money back for the hotel on arrival night (fine, last minute change) but that the hotel wasn’t available for the final night either because of “renovations” which was odd, the last night was never impacted. Why was it suddenly unavailable? I think it’s because they completely forgot.

We start our safari and the car is unreliable. I’m not talking old, refurbished or dusty. The car wouldn’t start half the time, there would be smoke coming out from under the hood, burning smells, random wheels stopped turning mid-drive and the passenger door would randomly open mid-ride. The guide was constantly having to put in motor oil, jump the car, be under the hood and working on the tires to get them moving again. He even had go tie the passenger door so it would stop opening while we were moving.

The guide had zero knowledge of our Mokoro ride and where we were staying in Maun. He called numerous times at each gate we passed - calls went unanswered for days. He even went to the gates while we took an afternoon naps to try to resolve everything but said no one answered or no one called him back. The Mokoro ride eventually happened, but only because we armed the guide with proof we paid for it.

The guide also said he’s worked for many mobile safaris. They usually give a print out with all the details but he didn’t get one for us. He said he was called 2 days before (conveniently around the time we reminded them of the safari) and everything was instructed over the phone.

The crew was fine, the food was good though we ate cold cuts everyday for lunch, and the guide showed us all we came to see but it felt like our safari was completely forgotten by Unlimited, then slapped together last minute. If we hadn’t reminded them, I bet we would have been stranded at the airport. How can you pay a company thousands of dollars and have to remind them you paid for a safari?

When I thought it was all over and we just go to the airport now, Unlimited had one last surprise. They didn’t pick us up from the hotel to the airport. They didn’t bother to tell us there was a problem with the car until we called, and they weren’t going to pick us up until 1 hour before the flight - leaving us no time to get through passport control, baggage, security and board. The hotel called a taxi. Thankfully we did, we arrived with only 5 minutes to spare before boarding.

When I got home, I saw they had taken a high profile client out based on their social media posts, so I guess that took priority over us. It was upsetting considering we saved up for 2 years for a mother-daughter safari and we should have just gone with someone else we knew and trusted.

Safe and excellent Safari
5/5

We had a wonderful stay at the camp and I couldn't recommend it more. We went for morning drives and evening/night dirives and saw elephants, crocodiles, leopards, wild dogs, lions, hippos, buffalos, impalas, girafs, zebras, kudus and lots of more! We also made river cruises. Moses is an absolutely brilliant guide, who has fantastic knowledge about all of Botswana's animals and birds, and knew exactly where to go to find the animals. We saw leopards having dinner high up in a tree, elephants playing in the river, wild dogs moving for a hunt. We heard hyenas and lions growl and howl at night..... All the staff are great and the food is fantastic. We loved staying in the tent too and showering outdoors. Every tent had it's own 'privat area' :) All in all, a wonderful experience.

A Stellar Mobile Safari Company
5/5

All our communications with Unlimited Tours & Safaris were concise and timely. It's always a little worrisome to wire money to a company that you don't have a previous relationship with, but we did. We were not disappointed. Moses met us at the Maun airport and we never had any issues with either him or his company. We felt like we received even more than we paid for. For a tent safari, we found the conditions comfortable. Except for in the delta, we always slept on beds with nice linens that were changed each time we moved to another camp. Eddie, the chef, cooked varied and delicious meals even treating us with his favorite Botswana dishes one evening. Moses is a fabulous guide. He is easy company and an excellent tracker and spotter. Moses is also a photographer so he knew just how to position the safari vehicle for us to capture the best images. Moses arranged our itinerary so we visited six quite diverse parks scattered over Central Botswana. I highly recommend Unlimited Tours and Safaris.

Once in a life time experience, but want to keep repeating.
5/5

This was the TRUE safari experience. I have been to Kenya/Tanzania for safari in the past with luxury accommodations and a reasonable wild life viewing. That did not come anywhere close to what was waiting for us on this safari.
The kind of wild life, both in quality and quantity that we were presented with on the Unlimited Safari was simply awesome. Moses, with his superb knowledge of animal behaviors and great anticipation based on the same, helped us see animals in different settings, as if they were giving scripted performances just for our private pleasure. Ten days at four different camp sites, with each site offering something unique in the type of wild life, was made even more enjoyable because of the kindness/friendliness of the staff, good sense of humor and fantastic food served fresh everyday. Special mention is deserved for the ' Sundowners ' prior to dinner time, yet another speciality of Moses. All in all, you will be amazed with the richness of experiences that you will be treated with, if you decide to go with the Unlimited Safari.

The Best Botswana Safari Experience
5/5

The most important decision for any safari is the guide you either choose or end up with - this is my honest and humble opinion. And if you decide to visit Botswana for a safari, you cannot go wrong by selecting Moses Ntema and his Unlimited Tours & Safaris Company. Four of us had a wonderful enriching experience in October, 2015 while spending 10 days on a private mobile safari with Moses and his Unlimited team. It was our first Botswana safari as well as a first mobile safari and our experience far exceeded even our wildest (no pun intended!) expectations.

Moses is a gifted and natural guide. He is extremely skilled in his understanding of the wildlife behavior and habits (a very important trait for finding wildlife), his knowledge is vast, he is extremely customer focused and he works hard to provide a superior experience to each and everyone in the group. He is an avid photographer himself and is very skilled at positioning the vehicle so you get the best angles and light for taking your photos during the drives. And finally, he and his team have a great sense of humor which makes the trip a lot of fun for everyone. But they do it while all the time working very hard to keep you comfortable and safe. Oh, and one final thing. The food is simply amazing! You will marvel how anyone can bake, grill, and present such a fine cuisine in the bush. Be prepared to experience a very unique safari trip which will leave you with memories of a lifetime. I endorse Moses and his Unlimited team wholeheartedly. You will have made a wise decision should you be lucky enough to go with them!

Amazing Experience
5/5

We first met Moses in 2011 when he was our guide at Selinda camp. We were really impressed by his knowledge and tracking of animals so when he started his own business we did not hesitate in booking a trip for our 10th wedding anniversary. Mobile camping was something new to us as we have only ever stayed in lodges. We need not have worried though everything was fine. We had an amazing time, the food cooked on a camp fire by Moses two was amazing, the best fillet of beef I have ever tasted. He even made us a chocolate cake for our wedding anniversary complete with 10 candles. Our anniversary lunch was a table for two complete with champagne on ice overlooking a hippo pool. Our camp crew Bros and Carlos made sure that we had everything we required and the camp was always beautifully set up when we arrived a a new reserve. Some people thought we were crazy sleeping in a tent in the bush. We did have hyena in most nights, a leopard and a lion but listening to the Hyena's outside made it all the more amazing. It is our intention to go back and travel to the Kalahari in the future. So if you fancy a few nights in the bush I can really recommend Moses and his team at Unlimited Tours and Safaris.

Fantastic Moremi tour
5/5

Deciding to take a guided safari in Moremi, as it sounded a more intimate safari than some other options, on Unlimited Tours’ advice we booked the overnight ‘participation’ safari rather than a one day safari. We are so glad we took the advice.
We were quite late in booking but Unlimited were very responsive and put together all the arrangements for the safari at very short notice.
We camped at the Khwai campsite and the tent and other equipment provided were all excellent. Moses, our guide, chose a camping plot by the river and an excellent spot it was, especially when we were visited by elephants going down to the river as we prepared our evening meal. Our ‘participation’, help in erecting the tents, shower etc, and preparing food, rather than feeling like a chore increased our feeling of involvement in the safari.
Moses was extremely personable and easy going making the safari very comfortable. Importantly he knows his job as a guide, being most knowledgeable and informative and knowing where to look for wildlife. He always had us in the best position to see the animals when they moved.
We were fortunate to see so many animals and birds at very close quarters. We had said to Moses that we would most like to see some predators and he duly delivered; the highlights being a leopard and her cub and 2 male lions just metres from our vehicle.
Overall a great experience with Unlimited Tours, we’d use them again and recommend them.
