A great tour operator that was a pleasure to deal with.
5/5

We used Safari Online to put together a mid-range Botswana trip for a group of four going to three different camps and then onto Vic Falls. We asked several operators to provide options (through this great safari bookings website) and Walter Kohrs from Safari Online was easily the most responsive and quickest to provide different but realistic options and at good prices. In the end it was a no brainer to go with Safari Online. Walter always responded to my queries quickly, with honest and valuable responses that were clear and made sense. From our perspective he tailored a good mix of places for both our budget and standard of facilities that suited us perfectly, with enough information and links to help us make our decisions. In the end each camp was different and had different aspects and strengths that made each unique. We loved it.

We have booked at the Elephant Plains Lodge. We stayed there for a few nights and went on safaris. The lodge, the guide, the food and all the animals we have seen were fantastic. Really an outstanding experience. We can recommend Elephant Plains to everybody. Maybe you will not be as lucky as we were, becaucse we have seen the Big 5! But however you will not forget your stay at Elephant Plains.

Camping Safari (with a Twist)
4/5

Walter is by far the best travel agent we have had! He is always very good in getting back to us with the information we need in a timely fashion. The communicate level way exceeds our expectation.
The trip was relaxing and we get to see a lot of animals. It is a unique experience than other safaris that we had been on as this move from location to location and you get to see and experience different aspects of the animal, landscape, flora and fauna as we travel. The accommodation is good and we are amazed of the type of food the chef can make in a camp environment. We were totally unplugged from the outside world as there are no internet connection, no electricity etc. Cautions should be taken of your temperature tolerance so you can pick the season that will be best for you as you will have no AC or heating. We went during winter so the morning and the evening were chilly. However, the beddings were very comfortable and we were warm enough except for the brief moments between getting out of bed and putting clothes on. The guide was very knowledgeable and the camp staff were courteous and attentive. Overall a great experience!

Quick and committed

I was planning for our second safari (after Serengeti in June) and managed to get contact with Karina of Safari Online. Nonetheless, i cannot deny that I am a bit underwhelm with the choices and etc (there are so many). Karina helped us with ease. She understood my budget, what we want to second and went to extra length in explaining my queries (all regarding the trip to animal sightings). We nearly confirmed our South Africa arrangement with Safari Online if not for an eleventh hour inclusion into a safari photography (which are few in between and fully booked as well as my wife's interest in photography). I apologise to Karina for her hard work and dedication and she understood well and wishing us well. A shame that we can't utilise the tree house that she already booked us for that particular tour but if you are thinking to have a full detailed of arrangement, Karina of safari Online is one of the very best consultants out there.

It was a safari of a lifetime and exceeded all of our expectations!

I have so many wonderful things to say about Walter and Safari Online that I don't even know where to begin!

Our mom grew up in Central and South Africa so we had visited the continent many times. My sister and I wanted to take our teens and husbands to Africa to experience the magic. We had a limited budget but big and specific expectations and by some miracle Walter was able to manage both.

For a couple years we had been looking around for safari companies and Safari Online was the most reasonably priced outfit we could find.

That being said, this did not feel like a budget safari at all! In fact our kids marveled at how posh the experience was. We have traveled a lot throughout the world and most people in our group agreed that Gibb's Farm was the most beautiful place we had ever been. Then our tented safari was wonderful as well! Amazing food, attentive service and beautiful tents.

Walter's attention to detail was amazing. Whenever we had a transfer, we never had to wonder who was picking us up - it all worked seamlessly.

Additionally, our group had some unique medical needs during the trip. With only a phone call Walter made arrangements for medication to be delivered to various camps.

And on the last day we decided to spend some time in Dar Es Salaam and again, with a quick email Walter arranged for a driver for us.

Walter was always so friendly and accommodating. Before the trip we had a ton of questions, dozens of emails and a few changes and Walter always seemed to happy to help us.

Arranging a safari through an online service could have been a disaster. But we ended up having the best safari we've even been on!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO WALTER AND EVERYONE AT SAFARI ONLINE!

Safari Online were extremely efficient and absolutely charming to work with.

I have a severe intolerance to chemical products such a fabric softener. This can create difficulties when you travel. But the team at Safari Online made sure that all the destinations on our itinerary met our unusual demands. Our 28-day itinerary took us to South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana. A magnificent and unforgettable adventure. Everything ran smoothly and efficiently from the flights, transfers, rides, connections, etc. Absolutely wonderful! Can't thank them enough!

We are six older but experienced travellers who usually do our own planning. Luck led us to Safari Online and Walter. His ideas proved spot on. First to Batonka in Victoria Falls, then the Eco lodge In Savuti and finally Ngoma Safari Lodge. Each was different and special in their own way. The game drives from the lodges were wonderful, each of our guides Ren at Savuti and Kenneth at Ngoma were informative and experienced. If there was game to be found they found it.
Throughout our planning Safari Online have been helpful, always answering emailed questions, no matter how basic, straightaway. We've had probably our best ever holiday in years of travel, everything went smoothly. Pickups and transfers were on time. Staff in all the places we stayed were friendly and helpful. I can't think of one adverse remark except maybe seeing a lion that wasn't asleep, though I think if it could have been arranged Walter would have done so.

Fun (and quick) trip to the Serengeti
5/5

Had a great time. In retrospect, we made the right decision to stay near Arusha on our first night, given that we didn't arrive until after midnight - so kids were burned out! This led to a nice relaxing Sunday. If I were to change it, I would have toured Arusha National Park in the afternoon, specifically with more focus to learning about Mt. Meru, and just enjoying the area. As it was, we had a nice visit to a lake just south of Arusha, but involved a lot more driving. Arusha itself was ok, but not a lot to do on Sunday as most everything was closed.

Our tour guide (Nelson) was very good as well. Patient. No complaints about him over the entire course of the journey. Drove well, knew where to find everything, very professional. Great with the kids.

In terms of itinerary:
We would recommend maximizing the time in the Ngorogoro crater, and so cut out everything that limits time there. For us, this meant that we wish we had avoided a 45-min side-trip to a Masaii village on the way to the crater, or at least deferred it until the way back. The crater is a very special place, even the time spent on the crater rim is cool. Btw - the camp at the crater was incredible. Great decision.

Seregenti was fine: majestic views and wide open grasslands. We had incredible animal sightings - especially the proximity that you can get to these fella's (but still, bring a zoom lens). Our two camps were VERY nice, and matched our style very well. The safari days are long (all day) vs. the safari's we have done in South Africa (a morning and an afternoon), but that was ok as long as we stopped for bathroom breaks. In the end, we think we learned that we prefer the "2-per-day" safari style common in Kruger.

Kilimanjaro was an absolute highlight. It was great to spend the last day there and tour the area, and gave some good ideas about the next trip to the region (to climb it!). We met up with a guide who toured us through the village, and the Hotel accomodation was ok (weird, with the concrete architecture...very vogue-ish.

Our departure day was EARLY!! We were about 60-min from the airport, and so we had a 3am alarm bell to get to the airplane for our flight to Nairobi. At least the airport had a coffee shop. Not sure if options to stay closer to the airport were available, but it would have meant we had missed Kilimanjaro...which would be disappointing.

So, in summary:
- Good that we stayed the first night near Arusha, since we didn't arrive until LATE
- Would have skipped the Masaii village. Or at least deferred it to the end of the tour
- Serengeti was cool. The tent-camps were fantastic >> lots of animal sounds all throughout, and great food/drink
- Kilimanjaro is incredible.

Hope that helps,
