Awesome Wildlife and Cultural Experience
5/5

I went to the "7 day migration of wilderbeast maasai mara and lake nakuru park" safari at the end of June 2018.
Since the very beginning, I had a very good impression of the travel agency, as they always replied to my emails in a timely and professional manner. The experience got better and better as I landed in Nairobi, where I was welcomed by the Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris staff, and greeted by Mr Otieno in person.
Perhaps most notably, I was really awed by the professionalism, expertise and good spirit of George, our safari guide. He really made me live unforgettable moments from day 1, and always strived to provide a personal touch to the safari and customize the journey to my needs; for instance making some deviation in the journey if I had to buy something, or staying longer in one or the other park if I wanted to.
Mr Otieno, you are lucky to have such a great guide in your team!

Received the best of care and had a really enjoyable vacation with KWSS.
5/5

At the get go I should say Otienno and his two guides Paul and Michael were outstanding. Each and every safari game drive was rich in terms of diversity and Paul and Micheal were careful to not miss out on the big game (the big 5 and the small ones (Dik dik, chameleons, lots of birds). They were very warm, excellent conversationalists with all the questions we asked them of the animal Specifics as well as about their countries Kenya and Tanzania
In Kenya we had a terrific experience in Amboseli where Paul knew where to show us the elephants and the lions, very close. In Masai Mara it was a large variety of game which we also saw. Paul made sure we had regular comfort breaks and took care of a smooth drive when outside of the safari zones
On the Tanzania side to start with after immigration which wasn’t very long, we moved to a land cruiser and the vehicle was very good and had excellent height and Micheal drove very smoothly. The game drive in Serengeti NP was magical with close encounters with cheetah, lions galore , elephants.... ngorongoro was beautiful and diverse with lots of herds of zebra, wildebeeste and we got to see very large male lions and lion prides. The rhinos were a little shy but we saw them moving from a distance too
I must add that the places KWSS booked for us to stay in like the Kibo tented Safari Camp at
Amboseli or the octagon lodge at Karatu near Ngorongoro were lovely - both in terms of comfort of stay and the service levels
Overall we never had a dull moment - it was an exciting holiday and made possible by the warm and knowledgeable guides from KWSS
Michael, Paul and Otienno thanks for making this truly outstanding

A fabulous trip to East Africa with KWSS
5/5

Our trip to east Africa was more than just a tick the bucket list - it truly is a life changing experience .. We travel quite a bit in our country and around many gorgeous places around the globe, but Africa touched us in a way very few places ever had, and the perfect arrangements by the walking survivor safaris had a huge lot to do with it ... I usually like to plan my trips myself and hence was a bit hesitant going through a tour agency - but KWSS and the owner Mr Otieno was an absolute delight to deal with - prompt on mail, coming up with intelligent and practical suggestions and ensuring the places we stayed in had character and lovely settings but were comfortable .. To top it his extremely competitive pricing worked perfectly for our budget and he is better priced than most people you will come across . His driver guides are great ...For my solo leg in Uganda for gorilla and chimp tracking I had the very affable and friendly Richard who made me feel right at home and perfectly safe in a totally unknown country. In our family leg in Kenya we had Paul -pleasant , quietly competent, very mature and extremely knowledgeable taking us through Masai Mara , Lake Naivasha and amboseli. In Tanzania we had Michael, whose sheer will to show us as many animals as he could was exemplary and his sheer enthusiasm was infectious. We will definitely be back to this part of the world with KWSS and would recommend them highly to anyone contemplating a trip to this gorgeous part of our world ! They totally deserve all the high ratings they get and more! Well done Otieno !

Recommended 7-day safari
5/5

I was picked up at the airport in Nairobi and the next day I departed for a 7-day safari with our driver Evans. The first stop was at the Great Rift Valley view point, and then Lake Nakuru - a magical place where you can see fauna and flora. Next day we picked up our cook Sam on the way and went to Masai Mara for 2 days where you can also opt for a hot air balloon ride. The lodge outside the Park was peaceful, especially due to our Maasai guards. The food of Sam was delicious! The following day Evans brought us to Lake Naivasha where you can rent bicycles and enjoy the ride along the lake, or even hire a boat. It is also possible to go on a hike to Hells Gate National Park with an interesting at the end of the hike. Next day, our driver Simon picked us up and brought us for a walk along the Green Crater, where you can have lunch by the lake covering it. On the last day, Simon took us to Mt Longonot which is a huge beautiful crater - there is also the option to get into it but we didn't have enough time.

Big thanks to Evans, Sam, and Simon for their tireless presence and services - they made this safari memorable!

Perfect from A to Z
5/5

First, we arrived in Kenya without stress as we had a lot of email exchange with the company. MR.OTIENO LYSANIASH, the owner, has its office in Nairobi. He is working with 5-6 people. Each time I had a question, the answer came within hours.

At the airport, our guide Benson was waiting for us. We were two friends and we had a single bus for us. Benson, aka. Baboo is a very skilled driver. We always felt very safe. The man has lot of explanations to give about the country, about the animals, about nature. He is also able to understand when you don't want to speak or when you want to rest.

Our 10 day tour went according to the plan. The guide made some light changes to enhance our experience. For example, he added a game drive to the day's program. We paid around 1900 USD each, and I have to say that we have spent each night in a luxury environment. Our safari was 10 DAYS SAMBURU, LAKE NAKURU, CRESCENT ISLAND, MAASAI MARA, LAKE NAIVASH, AMBOSELI. We spent the nights in Samburu, Nakuru, Naivasha in luxury lodges rooms. The Maasai Mara and Amboseli where under a luxury tent (the one you can stand inside, and I am 1.90m (6.3 ft) high). Those places were so beautiful that i didn't want to leave in the morning.

There are two things I want two write about, to show how professional is the company.
When we booked, we booked for to. Usually, the company books one double bed room. But when I booked, I specified that we wanted one room each. When we arrived at the first lodge, only one room had been booked. The guide called his boss and I sent an email. The following days, 2 rooms were booked in each place.
The last day, the clutch broke down. Our Benson tried hard to go to Nairobi, but he was forced to stop at 60km from our final destination. 1 hour after, we were in a spare vehicle sent from the company.

All of this to say that I book by chance with this company. Because of the price, I was expecting good quality, but not more (you can pay up do 4,000 USD for the same trip). It was much more than good, it was excellent !

Excellent safari tour from David
5/5

We had a great 2 day Masai Mara safari tour from David with a very limited time frame as we were flying out of Narobi at the end of our tour.

He was a great guide going to extra lengths to find the rare animals and we saw multiple lepoards while we were there and a lion.

The tour is affordable, the acommadation is great - not what we were expecting.

Would recommend.

Absolutely wonderful way to experience the Maasai Mara (in just 2 days!)
5/5

I only had 2 days (1 night) in Kenya and was keen to go on safari. A friend had booked through Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris and had a good experience so I booked a 2 day safari with them. We had a tight budget and I was worried this would affect the experience but it didn't at all. David was our driver and he made sure we saw so many animals - far more than I was expecting... even some lion cubs with a lion and lioness! He really looked after us. The accommodation was also better than I had expected - our 'tent' was more of a fixed structure with an en suite. One tip - pack lots of water and some fruit as you're driving for a very long time and it gets really hot. I'd really recommend Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris.

I had a wonderful experience and an amazing adventure on this trip: 12 days in Kenya
5/5

Mr. Otieno respond promptly to all my inquiries. He had everything organised and he always checked on us while we were on the road to make sure we were safe and we're having fun . The price was very competitive, all the accommodation were excellent. Anthony, our guide/driver was very knowledgeable and excellent at finding and explaining all sorts of animals and birds, he used the long range 2 way radio effectively to listen and asked other guides and find out where the animal sightings were taking place to get us up close to the wildlife . I will definitely have Kenya Walking Survivors Safaris again on my next trip to Kenya. I highly recommend this company, it exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic 2 week safari trip through Tanzania and Kenya, ending in Zanzibar
5/5

Our family had a wonderful an unforgettable experience on this trip. All of the company staff and guides were fantastic, helpful, informative and friendly. Mr. OT was very considerate and attentive in making this the trip we wanted, including ensure we saw the sights and locations we wanted. He was also very accommodating with changing the itinerary before and during the trip to suit our needs. For instance, we decided we wanted to slow down on the safari activities part way through, and were able to change the second half of the trip to include more down time to relax. All of the lodges and camps we stayed in were first rate accommodations with exceptional staff.
There were only a few minor issues like car trouble that the guides worked around very well. Overall this tour company was fantastic and especially for the amazing price this company can't be beat!
