Brilliant Udzwunga and Mikumi Tour
5/5

We had a brilliant 4 days organised by Wildness Safari. Having no knowledge of safari companies we researched as far as possible and feel we selected a good one based on our experience. After booking, all queries via email were very quickly responded to and answered. I felt I was dealing with an organised and professional company. I also wanted to change the itinerary slightly, allowing us to visit a school that we have links with, and the company were able to accommodate that also.
Ahmed personally came to pick up our final payment the day before we went on Safari at a time convenient to us and he brought along Raj who would be our driver and guide. Thought this was a nice personal touch.
Raj arrived early on the day of the Safari so we left on time. The drive is a long one to the Morogoro region ( 5 hours or more ) but lots to take in as you drive along and Raj provided an excellent service informing us of things of interest ( as well as being a great guy, easy to get on with ).
The detour to the primary school added a few hours extra to our journey but it was worth it and Raj just took it all in his stride. Eventually we reached Mikumi and enjoyed our first taste of a Safari as the animals are just roaming free beside the road.
When we arrived at Camp Bastian there were no issues on arrival or with any part of the organisation over the few days. The camp has a lovely vibe and I would highly recommend. Lodge rooms are small but what would you expect on Safari?
Our trip to the Udzwunga Mountains was fantastic. The walk to the Sanje Waterfalls is about 6km and is challenging but manageable. We learnt and saw such a lot led by an enthusiastic local guide. Raj had made sure we had a guide who knows his stuff so we had the best experience possible. The views from the top are amazing and the chance to have a dip in the cold plunge pool was exhilarating.
The Safari to Mikumi National park was awesome and brilliantly guided by Raj. Mikumi is a smaller, quieter park I believe and so we could enjoy the wild at our leisure. Even managed to see a lion and cubs thanks to Raj's determination ( and luck ).
Great experience made even better by the personal service we received from start to finish from Wildness Safari.
Overall exceeded our expectations. Thank you Wildness Safari

A very enjoyable safari with a knowledgeable driver/guide
4/5

From the very beginning of our enquiries with Wildness Safaris, communications were reasonably timely & clear. We decided on a 5 day safari to Selous Game Reserve, with Days 1 & 5 being travel to & from Dar es Salaam, Nights 1, 2 & 3 in Selous Jimbiza Camp just outside the southern gate & Night 4 in Sable Mountain Lodge just outside the northern gate. Our accepted contract with them included Days 2, 3 & 4 as 3 full days of safari in Selous Game Reserve. We entered the reserve around 10am on Day 2 & then unfortunately rushed through the reserve to the north to exit by 10am on Day 4, as the entry & exit permits last for 24 hours. Consequently, we did not get our full day safari drive on Day 4 as per our itinerary & only 2 days of Reserve entry instead of 3. This was explained to the owner when we arrived back on Day 5, but disappointingly no offer of a refund of Reserve entry fees was made. These are around US$75 per person per day which is not insubstantial. However, we did thoroughly enjoy our 2 full days of safari with our driver/guide Steve & managed to see a lot of wild animals in this time, so didn’t feel we would necessarily have any seen different animals on Day 4 – just more of the same, but in different numbers & different environments. Steve’s knowledge of the wildlife was amazing & he showed lots of patience in answering our numerous questions. Overall, we would recommend Wildness Safaris.

Thanks for the review. We usually have tendency of meeting the clients for personal review on last day, I had met and personally apologized on you last day in Dar es salaam.
Again I apologize for what had happened on day 4 as you were suppose to have game drive.
I had personally paid and banked the park fees of 3 full day game drive Game reserve bank account in Dar es salaam.
I have checked that the permit was suppose to be issued for 3 days but the guide Steve had overlooked. Due to internate network at Selous Reserve Gate, the permit was not issued but they only issued receipt. Assuring you to offer extra icebound on your future bookings.

Outstanding!
5/5

Abraham was such a great guide. He went above and beyond for my parents. My mother has arthritis and was having trouble getting in and out of the truck. Abraham had a step-stool commissioned for her so it would be easier. He was very patient with my parents in general. He was also an excellent driver, trying his best to mitigate the bumpy ride.

The tour itself was great. We went to Selous, Ruaha, and Mikumi. We were able to get very close to most of the animals in Selous, saw many giraffes in Ruaha, and spent a wonderful sunset with the hippos in Mikumi. The accommodations worked well for us. Although the food portions were at times way too much.

Overall, it was a great trip. Couldn't have asked for nicer weather or more gracious hosts or a better driver.

Fantastic Southern Tanzania Safari !
5/5

My wife and I went on a 9 Day Tour of Selous GR, Mikumi NP, Udzungwa Mountain NP and Ruaha NP from February 26 - March 6 2018. We had a fantastic time.

This was our first safari and I found Wildness Safari on the SafariBookings.com website. They helped us organize a custom Mid-Range Private tour. I found out – a private tour is exactly that – we could customize our trip however we wanted as it was just for the 2 of us. On our game drives we could pace our game viewing to fit our interests and desires. We found all the accommodations and food to be absolutely fantastic. The food was always superb – fresh, good tasting and nutritious. Every tent/room we stayed in had a nice shower/bathroom. The only downside, is most accommodations in the bush do not have air-conditioning. But the camps are always shady and there are plenty of cold drinks. So everything is good.

We were very happy we booked with Wildness Travel. They were easy to work with and very responsive. We did customize our trip to fit our goals and they worked with us to make sure everything was right for us. Even with the difference in time zones between Tanzania and California, Wildness Safari would respond within a few hours to any email requests we made.

Once on Safari, we had the most excellent guide and driver -- Roger. First, Roger is a very nice human being and a pleasure to be around. Second, he is an expert guide and driver. He knows all the game reserves and national parks completely. He knows where to look for all the animals. He is an expert and can identify all animals, birds, and plant life. We calculated that he has been on roughly 400 Safari's in the last 10 or so years. So he knows his stuff. It is obvious that he loves finding and seeing the animals as much as his clients. He makes everything fun and educational. Life is very good out in the bush -- surrounded by nature and distant horizons!

We wholeheartedly recommend Wildness Safari. They are the best!!

Well-organized safari trip with a old, tired and bad maintained SUV
3/5

Positive: Safari company that has good deals with accommodations. Nice places to stay at, both in Ruaha and Mikumi. The guide we received (Ibra) was good and familiar with the local community. We were picked up at the agreed time from the airport and the manager was good at answering questions before we ordered the safari tour.
The whole trip went well and we saw what we wanted to see. The trip followed this plan we received in advance, not completely but almost. For example, in one of the days it was unrealistic to go for a game drive after driving to the next national park (Ruaha). Although it was in the program.

Negative: On a safari tour you spend most of your day in the car, So the car is essential and vital for a successful trip.
The car was not in a proper condition. It is a reasonably well-used land-cruiser that has not been maintained for a long while.

The left window shook all the time while the car was running and the ventilation system did not work. We noticed that especially when it rained and the front-window from within became foggy because there was no air. Fortunately, it stopped raining after half an hour. It also leaked water from the ceiling down to the feet on the left side of the frontseat.
If you had to close the windows for an unknown reason in the wild and there is no air coming from the cars ventilation system. This should have been fixed before the car was sent on a longer safari ride. Remarkable that this was not taken seriously.

All four tires were in bad condition, hard and old. Particularly the right rear wheel, was not far from bald tyre on the sides. And was directly illegal to use. completely worn out. Especially when driving on longer trips on motorway, rainy days and on rough terrain good tyres is crucial for safety.

Scream sounds were heard when the car braked.. It came from the brake pads. Probably due to very bad brakes.

The left backdoor was very worn out, and one had to pull the lock up/down firmly to make sure it was actually locked. And there was no doorhandle in the innside either if it suddenly opened and one had to close quickly. It may also be unfortunate in a safari situation, in case of dangerous situation where you have to close the door quickly. For example, if an unexpected animal is approaching.

This puts passengers and clients' safety at risk and these are small obligatory car-expenses every Safari company must have 100 percent in order.

Thanks for traveling with us and the trip went well without any vehicle break down and even without any single tyre puncture.
Due to bad condition of the road there was problem with ventilation, door handle had little problem and 1 tyre was little worn out.
Break pad had some noise as due to bad road condition and mud due to rain.
All have been repaired and all 4 tyres are replaced with new.
