Amazing Trip to Tanzania
5/5

We recommend African Sunrise Travel to everyone, because they recently hosted us on what has to be the best trip ever. Anderson our guide was a great patron who gave us first class treatment all through the trip to Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. He is well versed with the parks and knew the best spots for perfect wildlife viewing. We cannot forget the thrill of having lions so close that some even crawled under our Jeep! This is in addition to seeing all the big 5 and lots of other wild animals.
We are very happy with the lodges that we were booked in. They were all top class relaxation points with excellent food, great service and comfortable rooms.
I highly recommend African Sunrise Travel again.

Materuni Waterfall & Coffee Tour
5/5

The entire day trip was incredible! I was looking forward to seeing the waterfall, but not being a coffee drinker, wasn’t too keen on the coffee tour. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Participating in the coffee process from harvest to a finished cup of coffee was both fascinating and interesting. I’m amazed at the many steps that go into it. I was a bit dismayed by the selling pitch at the conclusion of the coffee tour, mostly because I felt obligated to buy at least one bag. Then another man showed me art made by the community with the plea to support the artists. Let’s just say it didn’t sit well.
The walk to the waterfall was lovely and so very well worth it!!
The drive was in a comfortable vehicle, the box lunch was plentiful and delicious, and my guide Issa was incredibly helpful, kind, and patient. He made the trip an unforgettable experience! Asante sana

Awful vehicle
1/5

After checking potential tours and their providers through the African Safari website, my husband and I recently booked a 3 night, 4 day safari tour to Selous and Mikumi with African Sunrise Travel. Their price was USD 980 (incl bank fee) per person +USD40 for the driver-guide, similar to other quotes we received.

Not everything was as described ( e.g., the Mpingo Lodge did not have WiFi), but the vehicle was a modified Landcruiser. However, we needed two vehicles: the first one was ancient (mid-eighties?) and a complete wreck. Rundown, inside and out. No thread on the tyres. Dangerous and not road worthy. It broke down within 15 minutes, and we had to wait for an hour before we were back on the road again with a replacement car.

The second vehicle was also very old but marginally better, at least the tyres were good. However: the air conditioner was not working, and therefore we were exposed to breathe in dust for most of the journey from Dar Es Salaam to Selous and from Selous to Mikumi (I am not referring to the game drives!). Our near new suitcases, other luggage items and ourselves were coated in a thick layer of dust. Nothing worked on the instrument panel. The odometer’s reading was stuck at 467000 km, no idea when that was. The seatbelts were only lap belts and therefore inadequate. There were no hand grips to hold onto.

In short: the tour was uncomfortable, unhealthy and unsafe.

The Kili Challenge, Short & Sweet Safari
5/5

Went to Tanzania on 4th January and climbed kili from Lemosho route and then went north of the mountain and ascended up from school hut. It was a beautiful 8-day trip and I would highly recommend this route up. Had some beautiful views over Shira and as we went north some views of Kenya. The porters were absolutely fantastic. They were charismatic in their duties and all extremely happy! The preparation before we got on the mountain was brilliant. As well as the organization leading up to the climb. Food was marvelous going up, it really surprised me! Tents were very stable. All in all, I was looked after very well and enjoyed myself an enormous amount. The Safari was great, went to Tarangire which was an immensely beautiful place and saw a bundle of the big 5. Also went by Lake Manyara which was a very personal experience with the animals. Finally, I finished in Ngorongoro which was absolutely beautiful, brought a tear to my eye! The beauty was overwhelming and you would be an idiot not to go! The accommodation we stayed in was fantastic and my guide on this safari was super amazing. Kudo to Erasto

Great safari, honest & fun people
5/5

I loved this safari adventure! It is amazing when you see all of the animals (and so many) up close! But you have to remember this is real and not Disney. You have to work to find the animals sometimes. Sunrise Travel helped us see all of the “big 5” ... we got up close and they were also aware of our safety at all times. You need to know you can trust the tour operator, and these guys were so great. Plus, they took care of all of our tent camping and making delicious food. I made long time friends with one of the operators, Issa, and I hope you have the pleasure of booking your trip with him!

Climbing kili was amazing, doing it safely, even better

Now it is very popular to climb kili. It makes it seem easy and in some ways it is because it is not a technical climb. But you have to realize you are going to 20,000 feet! Next time you are in an airplane, realize how high you are. I was excited but a little afraid because I have asthma. African Sunrise Travel made me very comfortable. We all took it slow “pole pole” and on some times when I needed extra help, they helped me but didn’t make me feel like I was Standing out. I also paid a small amount of extra money (around $80 USD I recall) to have a porter to just help me with my backpack and water. It does help a lot to know you don’t have to carry 20 lbs all day! My guide was Issa and we still stay in touch today. I know the people who work for this company are trustworthy and will do their absolute best to create an amazing and safe experience for you! I have been on all 7 continents and this was the most memorable exceptional experience of them all!
