Couldn't have been better....
Like many other reviewers, this was our first venture into a safari, so many hours were spent browsing the internet and various operators and options. After a few emails back and forth, and a long Skype chat with Daniel, we decided to go with Transtrek. Daniel devised a custom made trip based on one of the scheduled itineraries and after a few tweaks, it was all agreed.
Our guide and driver Peter, met us at the airport and from then until he dropped us off 12 days later, couldn't have done more to make our visit memorable. We especially loved the trip to the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage, despite my being splattered with red mud. As foster parents, we could return in the evening and see the babies go to bed. Highly recommended.
The driving between destinations was sometimes long and often bumpy and dusty but we accepted this as part of the experience. The lodges and camps were all very different, ranging from small and intimate, to large and less personal but the service we received in all was without exception, efficient and friendly. The food everywhere was delicious and varied, with something for everyone. I had neglected to ask for anything special for my husbands birthday, which was while we were at Serena Mountain Lodge, until virtually the last minute when I asked Daniel & Peter if a cake could be arranged, which they did with good grace and generosity. The presentation of the cake to my husband after dinner in the local fashion was truly amazing.
We saw most the animals we'd hoped for, including rhino, cheetahs, lions and elephants as well as many beautiful birds although despite Peter's best efforts, leopards were particularly elusive and we only saw tails disappearing into the bush, twice.
In summation, the experience excelled our expectations and we very much hope to return one day to explore some of the reserves we didn't visit on this occasion. Thank you Daniel & Peter.

Professional operator and great guide, overall an excellent trip
This was the first safari for me and my husband. Before booking we consulted Daniel about basically everything (e.g., accommodation, safety, transportation, payment method...). He is very patient and gave detailed explanations to our questions, and suggested reasonable itinerary according to our need and the time we had. The price was a bit higher than we thought but still reasonable given the standard of accommodation we eventually chose. We got the impression that Transtrek was the most professional among several operators we had contacted, so we decided to travel with it. And it was a good decision. We were very happy with the arrangement from accommodation, food, to the safari experience. Richard, our guide, is kind and friendly, a fantastic driver and knowledgable guide. He is very good at spotting animals in bushes or far away. Every time we met a new kind of animal, he would introduce to us its habits, behaviours etc., and he tried to get us the best angle for photos. We learnt a lot from him and felt really lucky to have him as our guide.
Big thanks to Daniel and Richard, and Transtrek! We would definitely recommend this operator.

Trip of a lifetime!
Where do I start? so many good things to report from our recent trip. Daniel the company director provided us with exceptional service. From the start I felt he really understood what we were looking for plus he was able to get what we wanted within our budget! He made some valid suggestions to our itinerary which in the end made a huge difference to our trip. The safari totally exceeded our expectations. The lodges and tented camps he selected had great food and facilities.
The wildlife, landscapes, people were amazing. I have traveled to many places in the world. Kenya now is my favorite place on earth! You can really trust Transtrek Safaris with making your dream safari come true, they are professional and offer financial protection, this was really important to us. I must not forget to mention our guide Peter who knew the parks and reserves like his own pocket. We saw all the animals we wanted and beyond because he knew where to look and communicated with other guides. Overall it has been a holiday of a lifetime! Thank you Transtrek Safaris team , we will use your services in the future. Highly recommended!

amazing memorable 10 day safari
While in Zimbabwe on holidays we gave Daniel at trans trek 2 days to organise a 10 day safari in Kenya for us. Trans trek looked after us from the moment we landed in nairobi til we left. Accommodation, vehicle, itinerary were all customised to suit our needs for close encounters with african wildlife. Peter our guide was very informative about the wildlife, a safe driver, and made our trip a very pleasant experience. The accommodation Daniel selected was top notch. Kilaguni serena lodge in tsavo west national park was really special with its waterhole constantly visited by the animals. An ever changing view for us to watch and photograph! We have very fond memories of Kenya.

Very memorable and amazing experience
Very proffesional and well planned trip by Transtrek. Could not stop telling my very good friends back in the UK what a fantastic time I had and how I would loved them to have been there to share the experience with me. Probably the best holiday that Ive ever had!
Excellent / great value
Transtrek fulfilled a lifelong dream for me by being totally affordable. We were looked after from the moment we landed until we left and everything in between. The hotels / lodges we stayed at were fantastic we felt like we were living in the lap of luxury seeing some of the most spectacular wildlife during the day and night. Sitting in the bar at Kilaguni with a gin and tonic in my hand overlooking a waterhole seeing the most wonderful wildlife made me feel like a king. Being taken around in comfortable vehicles around the parks was just amazing. I couldn't recommend them enough.

Superbly organised, left us nothing to worry about and exceeded our expectations
We went on the Sumburu five and the big five trip. We've never been on safari before and were super excited if not slightly nervous having never been to Africa before. We needn't have worried we had a superb driver and guide , Garoua (Peter), he looked after us superbly well, we new exactly what we were doing every day , and he was happy to adapt the plans for the day. The whole safari was very varied with something new every day. There were some longish travelling days but that gave you the chance to see the sights of Kenya. Some of the highlights for us were the lion tracking, night drive, the trip to see the migration and finally spotting a leopard on our last day (thanks mainly to the perseverance of Garoua). The accommodation and food were of a good standard and the level of service from the Kenyan people was excellent. I thought the trip was extremely good value for money . I would highly recommend Tanstrek and when we return in a few years we'll definitely be using them again

Well organised and professional
We had a 10 day safari with my son and his family, and I can't believe how much we saw, including watching a cheetah kill and most exciting of all seeing the Wilderbeest crossing the Mara river with the crocodiles waiting!
We saw rhinos, leopards, lions, every kind of antelope, hippos, hyenas, there can't be a lot we didn't see.
This was only possible because of our driver Peter whose experience and knowledge made the holiday so much more than we could possible have hoped for. He went beyond anything we could have expected to make this truly the experience of a lifetime.
The organisation was also excellent with everything happening when it should and on time.
Many thanks to everyone concerned

Amazing
What can I say , this trip was amazing thanks to Daniel , from start to finish everything was wonderful , we were met by our guide Evan who was great nothing was too much trouble , we stayed at 3 diffrent lodges and each was very diffrent but amazing in there own right all of which Daniel arranged and the transport to each one , Evan was our guide for the whole week which i felt was more personal , my only wish was that i took a book with all the african animals in , not too find details about each one but to tick them off as we saw them, Evan seemed to know everything about the animals that we saw and explained it all so well , they have a radio in the safari tour van so when someone else spotted an animals l we hadnt seen yet evan would make sure we got there to see it.
We had been looking forward to this trip for so long and really didnt know what to expect, but it turned out to be a holiday of a lifetime and beyond our wildest dreams , I honestly couldnt recommend Transtrek Safaris enough if we ever got a chance to do this again i wouldnt go anywhere else.

Great safari off the beaten track
Having had safaris in several other African countries this was our first safari to Kenya and it compared very favourably. Daniel arranged a luxury safari off the beaten track exactly as we requested. Rather than following the more common tourist routes, our safari was based around the central Kenyan parks covering lakes, highlands and semi-arid areas. A diverse range of habitats with an equally diverse range of mammals (which included the big 5) and birds.
Accommodation ranged from lodges to hotels to tents and all were very good to excellent. Peter was our driver/guide. He was extremely capable both as a guide and a driver, and very patient when we struggled to see the animals.
Overall an excellent, well organised safari. I would use Transtrek again if we visit Kenya in the future.
