Great tour operators

Makario Trip to Gorillas
We would like to extend our thanks for a fab well organised trip. The Bishops House was a lovely boutique hotel, and the staff service was excellent. The Gorilla hike, although VERY difficult, we are very glad we did it and have now had the most amazing experience of been up close with this wonderful animals. Credit must go to the way the gorillas have been protected and how the everyone in the area is part of the conservation effort. Eric was a wonderful guide, he was interesting, informed and shared so much with us, including his birding skills. We were so glad he recommended the twin lakes tour, wow what a view and the birdlife. Th lodge (Virunga Lodge) is beautiful and authentic but a bit expensive. Thank you for my gift, I will keep it as a cosmetic bag, and always think of our fantastic time in Rwanda. Our thanks to Eric as he was really good, and is highly recommended. The gorillas, my ultimate dream experience
Thank you so much to Mwaka who organised my 5 day trip to Rwanda and Jean-Marie who was my excellent guide for the duration of the trip. The organisation of the trip was excellent and Mwaka was very helpful when my return flight was unexpectedly cancelled. A good guide makes a huge difference and Jean-Marie was superb. The last two nights accommodation at Virunga Lodge was wonderful. Seeing the gorillas and golden monkeys was an incredible experience and really worth it!

Excellent experience all due to the guide/driver -Pierre (Peter)
Very well organized, friendly staff inside the park and great vehicle (Extended Landcruiser). The guide did his outmost to make sure that we spotted as many animals as possible. We actually saw all the major animals in the park with the exception of Rhinos, Leopards and Hyenas (as we were there during daytime).
Pierre made sure to take care of us in every way possible, this combined with a great sense of humor made the trip unforgettable. I would highly recommend using this company (demand Pierre as guide) and you will not regret it.

Last week I went to heaven and found the Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda.
Thank you so very much for the most wonderful experience we could ever have had. I was so excited on that first morning that I could hardly speak when I sent my husband a voice note. To say that we had great sightings is an absolute understatement. All the sightings were just phenomenal! Our entire experience was just so awesome that I would want to encourage the entire world to get there, and quickly, for fear of missing out! Although we were there for just a few days, when I got home it felt as though I had been away for weeks on end because I had experienced so much.
I will forever sing the praises of Rwanda. The people are so wonderfully friendly, so hospitable, have such a beautiful attitude to life and are so proud of themselves and their very special country, that they deserve to be supported by everyone who can possibly do so. We enjoyed our stay at Tiloreza Eco Lodge so much as the staff were absolutely great, the food was fabulous and the rooms were very comfortable. Not to mention that they have a magician there who waves a magic wand somehow and delivers my extremely dirty, mud caked boots and gaiters back to my room looking like I’ve just purchased them! I was astounded to say the least.
How does one explain the wonderful person that is Jean Marie of Makario Safaris? He is so knowledgeable about absolutely everything that we could have thought to ask, so patient, so eager to ensure that we had a great holiday that one cannot help but want to introduce him to anyone who wants to visit Rwanda. It is so heart-warming to see how proud he is of his country. Jean Marie is certainly the 100% perfect person for his job. I cannot thank him enough for looking after us so well.

They are very professional and paid attention to detail
I found the staff patient and understanding. The tour guide was very punctual and very friendly; it was as if we have known each other for years. He pointed out all the landmarks on our way and inside Akagera National Park, he is very conversant with the terrain. I had value for money spent and look forward to visiting again with my family
