What an amazing tour experience, one of the best I've ever been on!
5/5

What an amazing tour experience, one of the best I've ever been on! We went on Omo Valley Tribes and Danakil Depression Tours, The Ethio Backpacker team was a great host; quick communication before the trip, gave us lots of information about Ethiopia and picked great places for some photo ops. The food stops were so tasty. This private tour is one of the best ways to change it up and get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Ethiopia.

We had the most authentic experience visiting Ethiopia!!
5/5

We had the most authentic experience visiting Ethiopia. Ethiopia is the richest country with vast numbers of Heritages, natures, and cultures. We saw Danakil, Tribes in the south, and Lalibela.
We were so happy during the trip and was organized well. We will return soon to see another part of Ethiopia.

We travelled to Addis Ababa, Lalibela and Danakil in February 2024. We had two day cultural/historical day tours in Addis Ababa... our guide and drivers took such good care of us. Our Danakil tour was UNBELIEVABLE.

5/5

We had two wonderful mornings in Addis with this experienced and friendly tour company. First, we visited the National Museum and then Entoto Park at the hill point. All the teams took great care of us and it was a fantastic experience seeing the country Ethiopia in a short day.

Best Tour Operator,
We did three days of Danakil depression by joining a group tour, The tour was awesome. Gashaw was a very experienced tour operator and a Generous young man, he asked about our daily activities and took care of us. We recommend Ethio Backpacker Tours.

From the moment I arrived, Ethio Backpacker Tours took care of everything. Their professional guides were knowledgeable, passionate. I did the 3 days Danakil tour and it was a great experience. The food that was prepared for us freshly three times a day was a special treat. It's 100% recommended!

Not well managed and will no respect to the environment
3/5

We booked the 3 day Danakil depression tour with Ethio Backpacker Tours.

Danakil depression is an incredible place, definitely worth visiting. The sights we visited during the tour were great, and our guide Aman was friendly and very attentive. Our driver was great too.
It should also be noted that unlike the rest of the group, we had to finish our tour in Semera. The guide managed to arrange a special agenda for us on the last day so that we didn't miss anything. We are very grateful for that. And the food was also very good.

However, there were many things we didn't like.

1. Gashaw told us the group size will be 15 people max, in reality because of some last minute bookings it was about 30. Which is a huge difference, we would not book it if we knew we'd be in a crowd.

2. On the first day of the tour there was some fuel issue which caused us some 4-5 hour delay. As we learned later, it could have been prevented.

3. The camping sites are very dirty with plastic bottles and other garbage. It's painful to see the nature being treated this way. Nobody seems to care.

4. Travelling long distances with 5 people per car (4 passengers and driver) is quite uncomfortable.

5. The sleeping places in one of the camps were right next to the kitchen, so when the chef started cooking at 2 am, everybody woke up. Almost nobody had proper sleep that night.

My impression is that the operator just took on more clients than they could manage properly. So maybe it was an exception and not a rule.

Throwing out plastic bottles and not cleaning the camp sites is a serious issue though. I hope they will start paying attention to this.
