Friendly, well-informed guide & driver who let us experience 3 African countries in one tour, GREAT!
5/5

We had a true everyday real Africa experience! We requested to see the Gorillas and active Volcano lava lake, and Instinct Safaris put together an itinerary which enable us to see and experience 3 countries, i.e. Rwanda, Uganda and DRC (even though we could have done this from one country only), thus experiencing 3 cultures, accommodations, languages and people! We were made aware of sustainable projects in these countries as well as how poaching is decreasing by involving local communities in tourism. We felt comfortable and safe in the care of our guide (Rabani) and driver (Bosco), especially when dealing with customs at border crossings, and enjoyed the friendliness, food and comfortable beds at the lodges. We would suggest that tourists are reasonably fit for the hiking/tracking and obtain a full packing list early to ensure all equipment needed for the hike and sub-zero temperatures at the volcano summit are sufficient. A worthwhile "bucket list" experience - thank you Instinct Safaris!

Review about Kibale National Park by Victoria
Overall rating
5/5

Chimpanzees and monkeys galore in Kibale! The trekking here isn't as tough as Bwindi and seeing the chimpanzees in the wild is such a fun experience. They're fascinating to watch.

A Challenging Yet Rewarding Adventure
Overall rating
5/5

When I decided to visit Bwindi to track to the mountain gorillas, I expected it to be fairly challenging, but as luck would have it, it was much tougher than anticipated. We stayed at Lake Mutanda Resort, a small camp about a 90 minute drive from Bwindi's southern Rushaga gate. The camp - which involved staying in wooden huts with an astonishing view over the lake and the Virunga volcanoes - was lovely, but staying so far out from the forest meant a very early start to drive on the 'African massage roads' to get to the track briefing point for 8am.

During the briefing, one of UWA's rangers explained to us how the gorilla trek would work, what we should expect, and what we should do when we faced the gorillas. We were also warned that if they discovered we were sick with any airborne illness, we'd be taken back down the mountain, as the gorillas are very susceptible to human illnesses. Each gorilla family has eight permits a day, and on the day we were there, they were completely full. We were assigned to track one of the 'further away' groups, the Kahungye family. This group has 18 members including 3 silverbacks, but would involve a hard hike. We were driven the 25 minutes to our trail starting point and then had to walk up the side of the mountain for an hour to reach the edge of the forest. The views were remarkable. Inside the forest, we walked for about an hour more and then we reached the gorilla family. The hour we spent with them was magical. Just being able to quietly observe their behaviour as they sat, eating leaves and picking insects from each others' fur was breath-taking. It also felt quite adventurous, with our rangers hacking at the dense vegetation (and it really is dense) to get us closer to various family members. At one point, a silverback mock charged us to show his strength and we were left in no doubt about who was the boss!

The walk back was equally as challenging because by this point, we were out of energy and my legs were feeling sore. The guide gave us a 30 minute lunch break to refuel and recover before we slogged back through the rainforest. As we came out of the trees onto the side of the mountain, we were greeted with a stunning view of the Virunga volcanoes. The weather for the entire trek was warm and sunny, although it was humid in the rainforest and the ground underfoot was slippery in places. On the way down the mountain, we stopped for a mini award ceremony with our guide to receive our certificates and play a hilarious game of 'gorilla charades'.

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the gorillas and the forest, but also very good at reading when the group was struggling and needed a rest. As I was the slowest, he put me at the front so everyone had to walk on my pace. This may have frustrated some of the athletes behind me, but it meant I made it there and back. I also hired a porter, a lovely young girl from a local village, and she carried my bag with all my camera equipment and pulled me up the particularly steep and slippy parts.

All in all, visiting Bwindi was a once in a lifetime experience (although I wouldn't rule out a second experience one day!) Although the hike was tough, there are easier families to access, and if you're prepared, it's certainly achievable. And in any case, the hour you spend with our gorilla cousins is something you will never forget.

Reliable Tour Operator!
5/5

My husband and I booked a 4-day safari tour with KETS a month ago, but we couldn't get our visas in time so we had to cancel our trip. Paul was very understanding and refunded our deposit within a few days. We are very grateful and will definitely contact him when we plan a visit to Kenya!

Okavango and Victoria Falls Safari
5/5

Robert at Wild Africa booked our itinerary for us. Everything they arranged took place like clock work. They booked internal flights, transfers to and from hotels, border crossings and the actual safari through the Game reserves of Botswana and Okovango Delta. They advised us on accomodation options and where to stay. Their dealings prior to the trip were very professional and the responses and service they gave was prompt and efficient. Our trip was fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Wild Africa in assisting with putting together another itinerary.

Brilliant Safari Experience
5/5

I have just returned from a brilliant two week safari through the Etosha National Park in Namibia and the beautiful South Luangwa NP in Zambia. As a solo traveller it can be a little nerve wracking arriving at a foreign airport not knowing if a person will be on time to meet you, however Robert organised the whole trip like clock work and I never had any problems with flights, hotel or safari bookings. Robert was extremely personable to deal with, and the two safaris I enjoyed were excellent, with much wildlife to be seen. I would definitely be happy to use Wild Africa Travel Company when I next visit that wonderful continent.

Amazing Safari!!
5/5

We had an amazing time during our 4 day 3 night safari. We got a chance to see just about everything from cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, and even got to see a lion take down a zebra about 10 meters from the truck! We went to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park. We were able to stay at the Ngorongoro Farm House and Tanganyika Wilderness Camp. Both places had great food and the service was very good as well. At the Ngorongoro Farm House we stayed in a cottage that grew coffee on the property and had a great view of the mountains in the distance. We stayed 2 nights at Tanganyika Wilderness Camp and had a great time while there. Each tent has it's own shower and toilet along with a sink. We are not fans of camping but the Tanganyika Wilderness Camp was great, we would camp every weekend if it was like that.

Our driver, Peter, did an amazing job of driving and spotting all the animals. He did an excellent job with ensuring we got every opportunity to see the animals and made sure we were able to get all the pictures we wanted. We arranged for Tanzania Expeditions to pick us up and drop us off at the airport as well. Justin, the owner, met us at our hotel and made sure we felt at home in Tanzania. He also met us before we departed Tanzania to make sure everything went well with the safari.

I have been lucky enough to travel the world and the safari we took with Tanzania Expeditions will be one of the greatest highlights of our travels. Everything from the accommodations, the animals, and our driver, Peter, with his knowledge and experience made for an outstanding trip we will never forget. If you are looking to take a safari in Tanzania make sure you book it with Tanzania Expeditions.
