Masai Mara is the most popular tourist destination in Kenya. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland and contiguous with Serengeti. The annual migration involves over 1.5 million wildebeests between July and October. There have been some 95 species of animals and over 400 bird species recorded in the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big 5; buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhino.
