It is the capital of South Kivu Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The city is built on 5 peninsulas, backing luxuriously vegetated mountainous ground close to 2,000 meters above sea level. This gives visitors a panoramic, breathtaking view with its contrasting countryside.
