Meru National Park is located to the north of Mt. Kenya some 350 kms from Nairobi. It offers dense riverine forests of doum and raffia palm and is mainly thorny bush land in the north, wooded grasslands in the west and open grassland in the rest. Little visited it is utterly un-spoilt and quiet. Animals found here include elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, black rhinoceros, white rhinoceros, Grevy’s zebra, hippos, Bohor reedbucks, hartebeests, pythons, buffalos and about 427 species of birds.
