The Masai Mara is a large game reserve spanning 1,510km² (938mi²). It is well-known for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as for the annual migration of zebras and wildebeests from July to October, known as the great migration. Lake Nakuru, located in central Kenya, is one of the Rift Valley's soda lakes, at an elevation of 1,754m (5,755ft) above sea level. Except for elephants, the park is renowned for the Big Five and as a bird sanctuary.
