Everything was very well planned and organized

Communication with Lennox was fantastic beginning many months before the trip. He and his wonderful staff have answered all my interrogations via e-mail and that was the main reason why my wife and I chose Axis Africa Expedition & Safaris. Pick-up at the hotel was on-time. The Safari tents at Camp Lenchada were much better than during my first safari in the Masai-mara a few years back. They were e ... Read morequipped with a hot water shower and a toilet. Beds were very comfortable. Visiting a Masai village is a must. I strongly recommend it. They were very welcoming. Many thanks to Augustus who brought us there. During the 3-day Safari, We saw the big 4 (excluding the Rhino which has become so rare to spot - haven't seen any during my first Safari either) and a lot of other animals, too numerous to mention here. The stop at Narok was a bit too long with our driver Dennis, over an hour and a 40 minutes, I am sure there is a possibility to accelarate things at Narok in order to spend more time on a Safari. Having mentioned that, we really appreciated our safari with our driver Dennis and we strongly recommend Axis Africa Expedition & Safaris.

Truly amazing experience from start to finish

My wife and I (both late 20s) went on a 6 day (5 night) safari in July 2018. This included 3 days in the Masai Mara (and boat ride on Lake Naivasha), a day in Lake Nakuru, and 2 days in Amboseli. We had the most amazing time, a truly unique experience and memories which will last forever. And all for the best price we could find anywhere! Detailed review below for those interested.

As the othe ... Read morer reviews mention, you cannot control the animals and so the driver is the most important thing for a good Safari. Our driver/guide was Isaac and he was incredible. Brilliant driving, a great eye for spotting animals and great knowledge of every animal in Kenya! Best of all though was that he picked up on what we wanted from our safari - avoid the other vans where possible and see the full range of animals including the birds and herd animals (i.e. Not just the big 5).

The accommodation was very good considering the price and the location. Electricity, hot showers, and good food (they even had the World Cup on the tv in the restaurant). There was wifi in the lake Nakuru hotel, though not in the tented camps in Masai Mara or Amboseli.

In advance of our trip we were in email contact with Lennox. He was always very quick to respond to every email and every question.

The transport is a Toyota Hilux van. It can seat 8, although we had between 5 and 7 on our trip so there were spare seats. The other people in our van were good fun and we got to know them well.

We visited a Maasai village in the Masai Mara. This was a unique and fascinating experience. This is "free" although tip is expected - perfectly reasonable after they have shared their culture and invited you into their homes. This can be paid as cash or by purchasing the souvenirs they sell. As some others have mentioned, there is also the chance to visit a Maasai village in Amboseli. This is not free and they do not tell you this in advance. It is $20 (2000 shillings) per person (which is a lot of money, especially since we had already visited a village). Fortunately we picked up on the price before we got there and so declined the invite.

There are a couple of other times when small tips are appropriate including the boat ride in Lake Naivasha and the river walk along the Mara river.

We would recommend this safari tour to anyone and everyone. Bring a camera and binoculars and prepare to be blown away!

Raheem best driver

Absolutely 10, he is the best driver ever, he was always first when somebody on the radio said that was seeing a wild animal, and when you are on safari that is the best.

Awesome Trip with John

Everything was perfect from making the reservation, to day 1 and to the last day with Axis. Lennox met with our group in our hotel and welcomed us on the first day together with our designated guide, John. We were a group of 7 friends and we fit perfectly in one vehicle. John knows Masai Mara very well. He is an expert in driving all sorts of terrains. Every turn was a surprise with John. We ... Read moresaw 4 of the big 5, we missed the Rhinos. Great safari experience seeing the Big Five with our fantastic guide, Kikitu.
Rating:

Not knowing what to expect going in, my girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised by our 3-day safari tour with Axis African Safaris. We got to see the Big Five as well as a cheetah and its prey, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes etc. The accommodation outside the park was great with fine beds as well as own toilet and shower and decent food.

However, what made the tour out of the ordinary was our ... Read moreguide, Kikitu Douglas. Kikitu was great professionally doing a good job of locating the animals and telling interesting facts and stories about them. He obviously went the extra mile in order to give us the best possible experience. On top of this Kikitu was very energetic, talkative and funny and seemed to have a wide-spread reputation among the other guides. Furthermore, he was very understanding and helpful when my girlfriend and I were feeling sick. We can only give Kikitu our greatest recommendation.

One thing you should note is that the Masai village charged 2000 KES per person as entrance fee. Something we were not aware of. However, it was very interesting.

Great safari with lots of wildlife, expected more information about the animals

We had a great safari adventure seeing lots of animals like cheetahs, lions, elefants, giraffes, buffalos and wildebeest. Sadly not the big 5, but that doesn't change our enthusiasm about the safari and the impressive animals! We stayed at Lenchada camp, which is very good. Clean tents with your own bathroom. Staff is friendly and the cook is great! Axis Africa's service is very good with an early ... Read more morning pick up from our place in Nairobi and a drop-off at lake Naivasha for a little fee. Contact with Axis is great, they reacted very fast each time and informed about our wellbeing during the trip. The only point of criticism was our driver. His driving skills on the rough road were good, but he was not very willing to give some more information or interesting facts about the animals we saw. He was also very kind to help another car stuck in the mud but let us waiting for 45 minutes after a long drive that day, and a tractor to pull out the other car already arrived.

Great Wildlife, no so great Driver

The Safari was very nice, and we were really lucky, despite rain season. However, out driver always seemed to be in a hurry outside the park and the extra-activities seemed to a nuisance to him
