Superb Operator, Amazing Guide
We did a six-day, mid-range, private Safari organized by Axis. The trip included Masai Mara, Nakuru, and Naivasha. We planned things primarily over WhatsApp, and the team was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The planning and communication was easy. They answered all of our questions, and even worked some magic on their side when the Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization system ... Read morewas down right before our trip.
The hotels they planned for us in all three locations were great, especially the Sopa lodges in Nakuru and Naivasha. Despite booking a "mid-range" safari, those two hotels felt very luxurious!
Our Guide, Khalifa, was AMAZING. His knowledge of the flora and fauna was unmatched, and he was constantly explaining details of all of the animals we were seeing. He also kept the long drives entertaining by sharing fun stories about Kenya, its people, and its animals. Most importantly, however, Khalifa knows everyone: Almost all of the other drivers and rangers. This was especially vital in Masai Mara, where Khalifa's amazing networking skills meant that he was constantly on the phone and radio hearing about animal sightings and taking us there. In Masai Mara, for example, he found three cheetahs, a pack of female lions and cubs, three male lions facing off, two leopards in a tree, and so much more! Khalifa made our experience incredible, and I can't recommend him enough. He knows the right stuff, and the right people, to give you an unforgettable experience.

Professional, friendly and accommodating
Honestly, we had one of the best times of our lives! Our guide, John Papa, made the safari experience fun, meaningful, and truly memorable. We’re so glad we chose Axis and would 100% recommend them. The accommodation was fabulous too—actually better than we expected. Great value for money. Everyone was so lovely and friendly.

The game drives with eagle-eyed Captain Khalifa were spectacular. With 15 years of safaris under his belt, he made the safari unforgettable for us while we saw male lions snacking on a giraffe in Masai Mara, a black rhino mother and daughter grazing and hyena feeding her newborns in Nakuru and a fish eagle swoop down for his lunch in Naivasha. Khalifa was full of information about the animals and plants and kept up his congenial character with park rangers, other guides, locals, and answering the millions of questions we peppered him with!

Our Tour Guide, Khalifa, was amazing; he was very friendly, energetic, and knew everything about all of the animals we saw. The accommodation has plugs in the tent which is a huge plus to charge phones and batteries, the light turns off around 10:30pm so you have more than enough time to charge your devices.

I always thought Safari was an expensive trip to take, and that it would cost a lot of money, but this trip was very affordable and the quality was not effected by the price at all.
In terms of the accommodation, Jambo Mara had a beautiful, large room with fantastic views and quiet surroundings. However there was no hot water in the room for the 2 days we spent there. The food options were not great and we found ourselves only eating rice and bread for the entire stay.
Lake Nakuru lodge was beautiful, amazing views and the staff were very helpful, and wanted us to have the best time while we were there. They could tell that we were very hungry and excited for tasty food and they provided exactly that.
The room was not great at first, we had to ask to be moved to another room, as the showerhead was broken, and we were also attached to another room (via a door) that was also being occupied and we could hear the other occupants.
They moved us to another room which was much better.
Overall, we are very happy with our trip with Axis Safari, we had an adventure of a lifetime that we will cherish forever.
