Wildlife Watching Just off the Highway

3/5 Reviewed By: Mary Fitzpatrick Visited: Multiple times

Mikumi's highlights are its ease of access (it's an easy four-hour drive from Dar es Salaam along the main highway), its reasonably-priced lodges and the chance it offers to see a good array of wildlife within a short amount of time. Every time I've visited the park, I've been lucky enough to see...

Ideal Stopover on the Tanzam Highway

2/5 Reviewed By: Ariadne van Zandbergen Visited: Multiple times

With the Tanzania–Zambia highway bisecting the park, Mikumi National Park lacks the wilderness appeal for which other reserves in southern Tanzania are known. But for me, Mikumi is perfect to break up the trip from Dar es Salaam to Ruaha National Park. I’ve always found the game viewing very...

This is the best safari service in Tanzania—without a doubt!

Daudi is an excellent organizer, and you can be sure that with him, you’re in safe hands. We went on a three-day safari in Mikumi Park, and we didn’t expect to see so much. I'll divide my review into two parts: the experience with Asante Bibi and a review of the park itself. I believe this...

Big, flat, tan, and wonderful

5/5 Reviewed By: Tim Brauhn Visited: September 2009 Reviewed: May 11, 2012

My 3-day stay at Mikumi National park was a wonderful break between two sections of intensive training in community-based healthcare. I was dead tired when I showed up after a six-hour drive through dusty roads, and I collapsed on my bed (thick mattress on top of raised stone dais) in the little...

Review about Mikumi National Park by Elina

A lot of different animals are easy to spot in the flat landscape of Mikumi, but not a lot of changes in it. More like steppes and meadows.
