Best way to explore the Okavango Delta!
Our 3-Day-Okavango Delta Safari was very well organized, Okavango Exploration responded quickly to our requests and was able to accomodate us on a very short notice, offering a great experience in the Delta. By connecting us to the members of the local community in the Delta, who supported the trip as polers and guides, we were able to learn about life in the Delta in addition to experiencing the wildlife and hearing about medical and other uses of the plants and trees in the Delta. Our guide shared his great knowledge while leading the bushwalks on the island or taking us out on a sunset cruise into the Delta. We truly enjoyed our safari with Okavango Explorations and the team and would like to recommend this trip to anybody who would like to spent a few days in the Okavango Delta.

A fantastic deep dive into wilderness
A trip bringing us deep into the bush, with fantastic views and animals spotting. Guiding and food at the highest bush standards, a so well organized trip. For sure, we will go with Okavango Exploration Safari again !
Authentic Wildlife Botswana Safari
Sox came highly recommended to me by a fellow veterinarian colleague while I was searching for an authentic African wildlife experience—and he and his team exceeded every expectation.
Watching Sox in his natural environment interpret animal behaviour with such depth and intuition was genuinely magical. There are no guarantees in the wild, yet our small group of six was fortunate enough to experience the Big Five, the Ugly Five, and an incredible range of birdlife—all expertly identified, named, and explained by Sox in real time.
If you’re looking for something truly authentic, immersive, and led by someone who clearly lives and breathes the bush, this is it.

A fantastic guide who grew up in the Okavango Delta and knows animal behaviour intimately
Sox was recommended highly to us by some friends and he lived up to our expectations. As others have said, it was the trip of a lifetime. We had our safari in the last 10 days of September in Moremi Reserve and it was very hot with average highs of 38C or 100F. Sox said the best months for cooler weather are June and July. Having grown up in the Okavango Delta, he has in intimate knowledge of animal behaviour and was the consummate guide. He takes safety very seriously and when we had to stop for a bathroom break he keep driving until he’d scouted a safe place.
He has a great sense of humour and an excellent dinner companion. His brother is a chef by training and prepared all the meals, including fresh baked bread every day. Never had camp food like this! Sox also has 2 helpers who attended to any needs we had. I haven’t got one critical thing to say.
Sox said we were particularly lucky to see what we did in 10 days. The total included untold number of giraffes and elephants; 25 lions including a pride of 16 with 5 cubs; 7 cheetahs and 3 leopards. Almost all of these were within 10-15 feet of the vehicle. There was one experience that Sox had never seen before: a leopard hiding in the grass and jumping out at a cheetah that had invaded his territory, giving chase to him. Of course the cheetah was faster but the leopard didn’t give up and repeated the chase about 5 times, having to rest in between. It had a comical edge to it.
Okavango Adventure
Having spent 10 days with Sox and his crew camping in Moremi Game Reserve, we felt very well taken care of and were impressed by the attention to detail Sox gave to the organization of our trip. He and his crew of 3 were very professional and tuned into the individual needs of the 6 members of our group. As a guide, Sox had a sixth sense about where to find animals and accurately reading their behaviours. Every day there was an exciting and sometimes rare sighting and we were all sad to leave at the end. We felt safe at all times given Sox's lifetime of experience living around the wildlife, and the caution he used when there was potential danger. Our cook consistently prepared delicious meals with good variety including freshly baked bread - he clearly loved and took pride in his cooking. The 2 assistants did the work of setting up and breaking camp and generally kept things in order with precision and efficiency. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and the warmth, friendliness and sense of humour that Sox and each of his crew had contributed greatly to this.

Best safari guide in Botswana!
I was nervous about visiting Africa for the first time and doing a safari but I am so glad that I did!
Okavango Exploration Safaris was perfect! The guide (Sox) was amazing and he seemed to know where all the animals were hiding and where all the action would be. We ended up seeing all the animals in Botswana’s Okavango delta.
What was best about Okavango Exploration Safaris was that the group was limited to 6 people so it was intimate and never felt crowded or rushed. Almost all the other safari groups were packed into a jeep (with 12 people and more) whereas our group never had to fight over who was getting a window seat. The trucks are all open-sided (but covered at the top for sun protection) so you really felt close to nature!
The camping was surprisingly easy and comfortable (see photos) and the food was amazing (cooked by his brother). All the meals were cooked on a campfire. If you are looking for an authentic safari experience that puts you living in the African bush this is your best bet!

He was extremely informative and also knew the best places to view the animals.
I went on a safari with this company with a group of friends. Sox, the owner and operator was very good at communicating about what to expect on the safari as well as any precautions to observe around the wild animals. He was extremely well informed about all the flora and fauna given that he also grew up around the area in Botswana. His staff were also very friendly and helpful and always there to provide excellent service.
Given his vast knowledge of the area, he seemed to intuitively know where we might see all of the animals, including the elusive ones, such as the leopard. As a result we saw all of the wild cats and watched with delight as we witnessed the baby lions playing. The other plus was that it was reasonably priced for a 10 day safari, far less than others I had checked and there were only 6 participants on the safari. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Sox and his company for an excellent experience of a lifetime. I came back to Canada and have recently recommended it to friends who will be going on one of his upcoming safaris. It’s not to be missed!

Best ever safari experience
Wow! What an exceptional trip with Sox and his team! We couldn’t have asked for better.
Our group of 8 kiwis had a 9 night, 10 day safari through Botswana with Sox and his team and it was an unbeatable experience - even for me as a “non-camper”! They made everything easy and comfortable.
The professionalism, attention to detail, humour, excellent communication, safe driving along with Sox’s incredible knowledge of wildlife and the area (all freely shared) made this a trip of a lifetime. The variety of experiences kept us wanting more - we never felt it was “same old- same old” … camping spots changed, parks changed and experiencing the Okavango Delta in traditional mokoro was certainly a new and exciting experience for us all!
Sox and the team went above and beyond to ensure we were well looked after, kept safe, saw as much as was possible, including 4 of the big 5 in one morning! Sox’s lifetime of knowledge, gained from his family growing up, meant we came away with so much knowledge you wouldn’t read in a book. Just kept us engaged the whole 10 days!
I can’t recommend Sox and his team highly enough - if you want to experience the real Botswana in a comfortable and engaging way, let Sox organise it for you!
An absolute plus was the team’s consciousness toward taking care of the environment - huge respect was shown at all times, including stopping the truck to pick up rubbish! This is not often seen but so important - big ups to Sox and the team for this approach - Mother Earth is safe in their hands!
We were incredibly well fed with OT our chef preparing three meals and two snacks on traditional campfires, then feeling luxurious as we sat at carefully laid tables to eat! Incredible to watch as well as always feeling well nourished.
Thanks Sox and your team - you were amazing! 10 out of 10 for your service 😊

Wonderful mobile safari with Sox as guide ad driver in Savuti and Okavango
We spent 5 days in october 2021 with Sox as a guide and driver during a moving safari first in Savuti and then in Okavango.
Sox was very professional and pleasant, he definitely knew where and when you are likely to find every wild animal, he was also able to make it fun for our 3 kids (aged 5 to 10). He was very nice, and made this safari an unforgettable experience for all of us. We definitely recommend to go on safari with him.
Plenty of photos and details on our blog (in french) :

Sox was extremely knowledgeable, safe and fun!
The tour was so much fun! We were so well taken care of with amazing food, comfortable sleeping tents with provided pads and bags, and the locations we went to we saw so many animals that we didn’t expect to see. Sox knew everything about the animal tracks, the animal burrows, the nightly patterns and all the different types of birds. We had an amazing experience!
