An excellent introduction to the great safaris in Kenya!
We are a family of 3 looking for a good experience being the first time in Africa, and we got a great one instead!
Stephen as the trip coordinator was patient, understanding and responsive to our numerous questions (vaccines, where to visit, what to wear etc). After discussions, we decided on a 6-night package (excluding Nairobi which was separate) being 2 nights each at Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Ol Pejeta Conservancy (2), all with the Wilder Group at Entim Camp, The Cliff, and the The River Camp, respectively. During the trip, Stephen greeted us on arrival and departure to the airport, went over the plans was available via mobile / WhatsApp when we needed help with the guide and the tented camps.
While the tented camps may have been relatively pricey, it was worth the while being a great compliment to the Safari experience, each being excellent in their unique (morning wake-up calls with tea and biscuits, rolling up curtain blinds) as well as their specific ways:
1. Entim's location at the Mara river was excellent and unfenced, giving you a sense of adventure while Chef Joseph culinary skills were the best of the trip. On departure day, witnessing 2 male hippos fighting for dominance within the common area was unforgettable.
2. The Cliff sunset / sunrise views above Lake Nakuru, expansive grounds with well-appointed and large rooms provided a premium experience, with regular greetings from hyraxes, baboons and eagles throughout the day.
3. The River Camp had the largest rooms, a private and serene location and Chef’s Gideon inventive cuisine (ask for the pina colada sorbet). Being next to the Ngobit river, it offered a great bonus with various animals visiting the watering hole on the opposite side (Giraffe, Elephant, Rhino, Bushbuck).
On to the tour, Tom exceeded expectations of being a great and knowledgeable guide that made the safari alive. Firstly, he was always early and in between safaris, he made sure there were appropriate stops for bio breaks, mealtimes and viewpoints / experiences (Rift Valley Escarpment, Masai village, Kenya/Tanzania balcony, Lion hill, Thomson Falls and the Equator line). He was clear in his communication on start / end times yet adaptable / accommodating to our needs being a private safari.
During the Safari, Kenya’s plentiful wildlife was the reason to be here. Additionally, Tom made the drives relaxed and was eagled-eyed in spotting the wildlife that were hidden, from afar, and even behind!
1. At Masai, while it wasn’t crossing season, we spotted the Big 4 easily (Rhinos were not present) including Lions (twice, once with a kill), Cheetah (thrice, once with a kill) and Leopards (once, 2 of them hidden on the trees with a kill). Each safari route was different ensuing we have a variety of viewings such as the riverbanks with large Nile crocodiles, large hippos and baboons atop the riverbanks.
2. At Nakuru, Tom gave us an account of the flooding that resulted a change of environment. We spotted Rhinos from afar, a pride of lion and lioness walking across our paths and a host of birds and land animals.
3 At Naivasha, the boat and walking Safari was an extra charge which was equally excellent, allowing to be even closer to the wildlife. Although Tom wasn’t the guide, he ensured we had ample time for the visit, and we never got hungry.
4. At Ol Pejeta, Tom continued with his excellent drive and spotting, being close as possible while keeping us safe, such as when a male elephant decided we were too close, and Tom’s quick thinking ensured we were easily out of harm’s way. We enjoyed spending time with Baraka and took 2 additional tours at an extra charge for memorable visits to the Northern White Rhinos and feeding time with the Chimpanzees.
Nothing is perfect and likewise with the tour. The Masai village tour was educational but could have done away with the hard sell, the Wilder Group properties seemed geared towards “wilder” and couples providing less privacy in showers/toilets, climate change resulting in reduced flamingo sightings (just 2 were spotted). However, this and other areas of improvement were minor compared to the excellent experiences that we truly enjoyed.
In summary, it was an excellent introduction to the great safari for our family, and we fully recommend Peak Season Africa Safaris and the selected properties and experiences.
Even before we departed, we were wondering when our next safari in Kenya would be!

Fantastic safari company to travel with
From the first safari enquiry with the Peak safaris rep Peter there was great communication discussing what we wanted out of the safari and where we wanted to visit. The 4 x day tour was planned just for us and we were the only ones doing the tour. Our driver and guide Kevin was amazing and from the time he collected us from our hotel until he dropped us back again, we felt safe and well catered for by this lovely guide. Each day we discussed the itinerary and it we appreciated the flexibility available if we needed to change something.
We spent one day at Ambasili and stayed at a type of Eco camp called little Amanya. It was well thought out but in need of some serious repairs and updating. Unfortunately a thunder storm flooded our camping pod out and we had to be moved. The food was very basic here and ok for one night. The tour rep took our comments on board and said he would report our concerns. Very basic but clean beds.
The second day we travelled to Tsavo West and a night at the fantastic Taita Hills safari resort and spa hotel . This beautiful top notch hotel was 10/10 and we felt privileged to stay here. The food ,staff and facilities were amazing and we were not disappointed. We eat at the sister hotel Salt lick Hotel where the buffet selection for dinner was incredible and faultless.
The last day was spent at Tsavo East and we stayed at Man eater camp. Once again a unique and beautiful place to stay with the local river running behind the camp. This was a beautiful and quiet location to just sit on the veranda with a drink and enjoy the views and wildlife and sound of the river rushing past, including the crocodiles! Once again lovely staff and great quality food. Each day we had a great packed lunch provided and all plenty of bottled water. All we had to pay for was.any additional drinks we required. Once returned to our hotel in Nairobi we were very sad to say goodbye to our guide Kevin.
This tour was great value for money and i would be happy to
travel with them again. We saw some amazing animals and bird life during the safari and had some great experiences and photos from the trip. If youve not visited Kenya before just be aware that many of the roads are like dirt tracks and are very bumpy with pot holes. There is a lot of travelling involved and days can be long but you get to experience the real Africa away from the tourist attractions.

Fantastic Safari Experience
My daughter and I booked a custom 4 day Safari to Samburu National Park staying in the Sopa Lodge and arranged by Peetah at Peak Season. The pickup was seamless. Our driver Tom had near encyclopedic knowledge of the animals we encountered. He also tried incredibly hard to seek out the various cats we wanted to see, with success in finding a group of 4 cheetahs who were hunting as a group. Sopa Lodge was a great place to stay with kind, welcoming, genuine staff, good food, comfy rooms and a lovely pool. You are close nature and so got to experience more wild animals first hand at the lodge. Tom dropped us at our final destination and Peetah (Peter) came to say Hi.
We had a great experience and would definitely recommend the company.

Knowledgeable, accomodating, respectful, fun
From the moment we sent out an enquiry, the communication was prompt and effective. Steven was proactive in giving us a package designed for our budget and needs. We loved how we didn’t have to worry about the logistics and could sit back and relax on our vacation. Even as we went along Stephen and Mr Tom (our operator) would regularly check in to ensure we’re okay. They were also flexible in the itenary which was great for us as we were on our honeymoon
The tour was expensive but we also got a trip of a lifetime! You definitely get a lot from your money with quality of accommodation , meals and experiences.
From the start every accommodation had a unique charm and we’re impressed by the quality of service.
If we had to point out one thing it would be our accommodation in masai Mara (sarova game camp) didn’t blow us away as some of the others did (Kibo, the cliff, sopa- all of these were very charming in their own way). This could be because the bar was set so high throughout our trip that maybe we expected the peak our experience at the end. Sarova Mara is still a good accommodation, but we felt it was more catered to the masses while we expected the level of service and amenities as others offered to make our honeymoon special.
The safari itself was exhilarating. Tom was well familiar with the ways of the game and gather intel on spotting the animals. Everyday we were amazed with what we saw. Tom went above and beyond to give us a great experience.
The journey was smooth, well organised, well on time, flexible, and exciting! Thanks for a great time Tom.-We felt well taken care of! We were truly sad when the trip ended. And thanks for organising a spectacular trip Steven
Reliable, friendly and perfectly executed tour.
Really love the your arranged by Steven with the driver Kevin. Everything went smooth without any hick ups. Amboseli national park is really an experience you shouldn’t miss. The scenery is one of a kind and we highly recommend it.
The stay at the lodge had all that was needed and the peacefulness and beauty of the area is just magical.
Highly recommended! Great value for money!
