Highly Recommend!!
5/5

We had the most incredible time touring Swaziland with Bumhi Safaris! Tende and Ivana are two of the most inspiring people we have ever met. We learned so much from them and had an incredible game drive and rhino walking safari, and in addition it was such a joy to learn that a portion of the proceeds from Bumhi Safaris is contributed to Charuma Conservation Initiative, the non-profit they also manage. Tende and Ivana are doing amazing things to make a difference in conservation and community in Swaziland! We will never forget them and the amazing community of people we met at Shewula Mountain Camp, as well as the rhino walking safari they took us on! We were about 30 feet away from wild rhinos! The whole time I felt perfectly safe, but at the same time I wasn't exactly used to a 2.5 ton armour clad unicorn running at us! This was by far one of the most incredible wildlife experiences we've ever experienced and is a must do for anyone visiting Swaziland. We highly recommend Bumhi Safaris and hope we can visit Swaziland again someday soon!

Romantic Kalahari
5/5

We would recommend to all lovers of nature to visit Kalahari. We were reading a lot about it, and what we can find there. But only when you put your feet in the red sand, you can realize what a gem is Kalahari. The animals, the nature, Bushmen tribes.. Wow wow wow!
We went in late November when the ground was literally melting under your feet, but Bumhi team with their special treats (cold drinks, fresh fruits and snacks, etc) made us feel like we are staying in a 5 star hotel on 4 wheels.
We spent 7 days in Kalahari, changing every few days the location / camp sites. Every spot had its own beauties and benefits. We were accompanied also with the bushman named Honeyboy who was giving us so many information about the flora and fauna in Kalahari. Every night, next to the fire, he was telling us fables. At the last day of Safari, we visited his village and his family, and they showed us their crafts and arts all made by their hands with the natural materials.

Watching thirsty animals gathering around water springs and enjoying fresh water under the burning star is something that we will never forget. Also so many different kind of birds and Ivana and Tende knew all about them.
Every evening Tende prepared us delecious meals, and Ivana made a lovely romantic setup for watching the stars and moon. We never saw Southern hemisphere constellations before,so Tende taught us so much about them.
I was 7 month pregnant and I asked Ivana if she is willing to help me with some exercise and yoga. It was important for me to get stretched after all day game ride. Immediately she said yes! She was the best! Helped me a lot! Like I had a personal trainer. Every day doing yoga and watching sunset or sunrise, is something that I could only dream of.

It was a lifetime trip and we owe huge Thank you to Bumhi Safaris team.
It is not always about destination, but it's who you travel with that makes it special. In our case it was great combo!

See you soon

Best honeymoon ever
5/5

We were newly married couple and we were thinking where to go for our honeymoon. We wanted to have active vacation with a dose of romantic. We have always wanted to visit Africa, it was our big dream. When we found Bumhi Safaris, and read all the activities they are offering, we booked them straight away!
Tende and Ivana are such a great team, every day spent in Kalahari desert they made it special.
Tende is like open book, live encyclopedia. He knew to tell us all possible details about flora and fauna. Also he is great cook, food was like in a 5 star hotel. I believe he is the best tour guide you will find!
Ivana is the one who is organizing all the activities and adventures. She was always with a huge smile, she has great passion for the nature and super positive energy.
Imagine, at the time we were in Kalahari, my wife was 7 months pregnant. But with them, we felt so safe. They took care of us, especially of my wife.

Now we have small baby, but for sure soon we gonna come back and try something new with Bumhi Safaris. Can't wait to enjoy Africa's sunsets again...

The safari of a lifetime - a superb adventure
5/5

Going on safari in Africa is one of THE most exciting and enjoyable adventures there is. After a safari it’s easy to write a glowing piece about your guide and the safari you just experienced. It will be one of the most memorable endeavors most of us will experience - it’s that good. All of the guides are knowledgable and helpful when everything is going according to plan - but the measure of a guide is when things DON'T go according to plan. Such was my adventure......

From the beginning of my two country, safari [3 days in Hlane Royal Park, Eswatini and 3 days in Kruger National Park, South Africa] we were barely one step ahead of the borders closing due to the Corona virus.

I met my guide, Tendekayi Guni of Bumhi Safari at the Namaache-Lomahasha border crossing of Mozambique-Eswatini and we headed for Hlane Royal Park where I had accommodations for three nights. Once we arrived at the camp we went on an afternoon game drive where I finally saw my first rhinoceros in the wild. Wow, what magnificent animals! Our lodge was next to a watering hole and in the late afternoon about 7-8 Black Rhinoceros came to drink. Later that afternoon Tende advised me that the border between Eswatini and South Africa was probably going to close. On his good [and prescient] advice I opted to cut our stay in Eswatini short and make the crossing. It’s a good thing we did as the border did close and I would have been stuck in Eswatini.

Tendekayi Guni booked replacement accommodations for me at Skakuza, one of the several lodges in Kruger National Park. That afternoon was my first mini-disaster. The zipper of my safari pants broke. :/ Try as I might, I couldn’t get the recalcitrant zipper fixed. Tende took the safari pants into a tailor in a small town about 15 miles away, had the safari pants repaired, and returned them to me that night. I doubt many guides would have bothered. After Skakuza we departed for my remaining 3 days at a private lodge in Kruger National Park.

My experience in Kruger National Park were beyond what I had expected - I saw ALL of the Big Five - lion, elephant, leopard, rhinoceros and buffalo. Lots of all of them. In my previous safaris - the Maasai Mara, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti I didn’t see even one rhinoceros. I must have seen over 40 rhinos in Kruger and at least 10 in Hlane Royal Park, Eswatini. We even saw a rare pack of wild dogs, giraffe, Impala, hippopotamus, hyena and about every other critter in South Africa.

The highlight of my trip was my walking safari arranged by Tende. We had a White Rhinoceros come within about 30’-35’ of us. He came trotting up toward us and stopped and looked at us for awhile. He was HUGE, about as big as a big SUV and heavier. They’re considerably bigger than the Black Rhinoceros and, thankfully, not aggressive. They're magnificent.

All of this time, my guide Tende was keeping track of the border crossings and it soon became evident that I could not return to Mozambique as originally planned.

On the evening of March 21st South African Airways notified me that, as of March 20th, the day before, they discontinued ALL international flights. THANK YOU, South African Airways. They were the airline I’d flown on from IAD [International Airport Dulles] to Johannesburg and then on to Maputo, Mozambique. I was without a return flight and South African Airways offered NO assistance to their stranded passengers NOR a refund. I was forced to book a new, one-way flight via Etihad from Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi on back to IAD, Washington DC.
This was where my guide went above and beyond. Tende drove me 450 kilometer from my lodge in Kruger National Park to Johannesburg. That is going beyond what I would have expected and the mark of a GREAT guide who looks after his clients. If you’re planning a safari to southern Africa you can do no better than Tendekayi Guni and Bumhi Safaris. They are GREAT.

Amazing trip for the whole life
5/5

Everything was super great organized from the beginning till the end of the trip. People from Bumhi picked us up at the airport. All together we travelled through amazing landscapes of SA until we reached Kruger National Park. Every day was unique and special. Nice accommodation, big 5s, beautiful nature, interesting stories about animals, tasty food prepared by our guides Ivana and Tende on a daily basis, delicious wines from SA, friendly and worm atmosphere every day during safari, as well special moments on amazing places during sunsets (these moments cannot be explained in words) etc etc. Bumhi did really good job. Thanks guys, we will see you again. :)

Just an Amazing experience with Bumhi Safari. I can’t wait for the next one thank you so much
5/5

It was my very first safari & I can tell you that it has been an AMAZING one thank to Tende & Ivana (Bumhisafari).

Everything was just PERFECTLY organized.
The life in the camp was just incredible, better than what I expected. Superb meals (Tende cooks every day different meals adapted to what you prefer & you will even discover African fish, meat or wines), super comfortable bed.

I have learned a lot with Tende who perfectly master everything about the wild ecosystem & all living being.
He really respect the nature & is totally part of the wild.
He shares his passion with pleasure and a touch of humor.

It was an experience full of discovery, dazzle, relaxation and learnings.

I highly recommend you to life at least one experience with them if you are looking for a high quality experience, perfectly organized and only for small groups.
Really individualized you won’t find more unique.

A huge THANK YOU to Tende & Ivana for this safari.
I can’t wait for the next one and for sure it will be with you.

Excellent Kgalagadi safari experience with Bumhi Safaris!
5/5

In November, my two friends and I visited Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park with Bumhi Safaris for 7D/6N. It was an EXCELLENT experience and I have nothing but positive remarks about Kgalagadi and Bumhi Safaris. Specifically, the wildlife sightings were plentiful. We saw lions every morning and evening, many kills including cheetah kill and unsuccessful lion hunt at the waterhole at night, several rare sightings such as honey badger, and many special and unique sightings. We stayed at a combination of Matta Matta, Nossob, and Twee Rivieren. We camped at all locations. Bumhi Safaris was excellent. Very professional, courteous, thoughtful, they always went the extra mile and never cut corners. I do not have any complaints. The food they cooked was restaurant quality. Creme brulee desert, etc. They accommodated all of our requests during the trip and beforehand. I thought the price paid for the safari experience was a good value. When I visit Kgalagadi in the future, I will book with Bumhi Safaris again. Their vehicle was comfortable, reliable, Tende spotted everything we could hope to see including some very majestic lion sightings in the distance allowing us to follow him as he approached the road at a later point in time. Their team of two is very professional, honest, and cares about the environment/animals.
