Our visit to Tanzania was the trip of a lifetime-it couldn't have been better!
5/5

We had the most wonderful experience with EWA, from start to finish. When we were planning our trip, Brian was extremely responsive, getting back to us promptly whenever we asked questions and always providing excellent suggestions. All aspects of our trip were handled flawlessly. The trip gave us the combination of wildlife viewing and cultural experiences that we wanted, the accommodations were all we could have hoped for, the food was wonderful, and best of all was our guide, Sammy Sikombe, who has an incredible store of knowledge, not only about wildlife but about the local culture. He answered our endless questions with detailed, thoughtful responses. He has a great sense of humor, quoting Forrest Gump with a perfect accent. He's also a talented musician and singer and entertained us with renditions of Hakuna Matata at the drop of a hat. He always seemed to be able to place us in the right place at the right time. When we were in Ngorogoro Crater, we were some of the few visitors who actually got a close up view of a black rhino, which passed right in front of us due to Sammy's careful positioning of our car (and EWA's selection of a beautiful hotel on the edge of the crater that was also in the park, allowing us to stay an hour longer than most). Sammy also gave us some personal glimpses into Tanzanian life by letting us meet his family and friends; he also took us to visit the Elephant Project in Tarangire National Park, where he worked for 8 years, which was wonderful experience and probably a bit out of the ordinary. Sammy also has a great eye for the best place to take photographs, and always managed to have us in the best possible position for the beautiful Tanzanian sunsets. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We are birders & animal lovers, and Brian, our guide, was very knowledgable and excellent at both.
5/5

We loved our trip, which Ecological Wildernes Adventures designed for us after communicating with us about our desires. We wanted half camping and half wonderful lodges with bird feders, all of which EWA provided wonderfully. The lodges were fantastic and the camping was very luxurious and exciting. This was the second time we had used Brian Mengoriki's services, and we will do so again. We have recommended him to all our friends and several have used EWA and loved their trips. We can't say enough good things about Brian. He was a perfect gentleman, knew all about not only the animals and birds, but also the history and social isues of Tanzania.

Could not have asked for a better group of guides, pleasant, courteous, friendly and ever so helpful
5/5

In all our travels we have never been treated better, Brian and his fellow guides did every thing humanly possible to make our trip a total success. Two incidents stand out for us on just how great they were, the first was when it rained so hard one night in the camp it was near impossible for us to make it to the meal tent and Brian's people brought our dinner to our tent, hot and one course at a time. Just like dinning at the "Ritz". The conditions were the very worst and they made it a really enjoyable experience. The second was on the way to the airport where we had to make a connection and the vehicle we were in had a flat tire, and they switched all our luggage with another vehicle and made sure we would make our plane on time.

An Amazing Safari
5/5

This summer my wife and I along with two of our friends from Australia went on a 13 day photographic safari in Tanzania.

Brian Mengoriki of Ecological Wilderness Adventures orchestrated a most amazing safari for us. We have run out of superlatives when discussing Brian Mengoriki. He was punctual, accommodating, flexible and extremely knowledgeable of wildlife, not only of the large mammals, but also of the birdlife, plant life, local culture and the jungle lore which embodies all of these. He went that extra mile to enrich our game viewing, diligently taking us to all corners to make sure that we see much more than just the ‘big five’. His knowledge of routes through large parks such as the Serengeti is truly remarkable.

On this trip we spent 3 nights in the Tarangere National Park (never heard of this place before but totally worth it), one night at Lake Manyara National Park, 5 nights at the Serengeti National Park and two nights at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Preserve. We have come away with valuable experiences, memories and pictures. As an avid wildlife photographer this trip is something which I will remember for a very long time. We also got to meet members of the Masai tribe, visited their dwellings and learned how they blend with the wildlife in the area.

We look forward to visiting E. Africa again for another trip with Brian.

Brian Mengoriki is an extraordinary guide.
5/5

Brian Mengoriki is everything one could want in a guide. He knows more than one would think possible about animal behavior, birds, and plants, and can spot a leopard sleeping behind a tree or a rare vulture from hundreds of yards away. He grew up in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and is deeply familiar with all of the major parks. He’s also warm, funny, and extremely competent at handling all the arrangements that make a safari work. Our trip through the Tanzania parks of Arusha, Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, Ndutu, and the Serengeti was terrific beyond all expectations.

An Excellent Family Safari !!!
5/5

Christmas in Tanzania resulted in a trip of a lifetime. Fifteen family members were able to experience a wild life safari of their dreams. Ages 6 to 70 years, enjoyed viewing the hordes of animals up close for ten days in a variety of surroundings. Brian's attention to details was wonderful : a Maiisi Santa serving champange on Christmas morning, breakfasts on the "trail" , stories for the children aound a campfire in the wilds, and always an appreciation of the area and the birds and animals. The meals served in the wilds were excellent , tents were very comfortable and lodges were "first class". Brian and his guides/drivers , Jarad and Francis, were most helpful and catered to our every need or suggestion. At no time did we feel unsafe , in the city or on the trail . We loved our safari . We are ready to go again !!

Brian and staff are knowledgeable and dedicated to providing people with a great experience.
5/5

We just returned from a 3-week photo safari and cultural experience with EWA that was organized by our friend who has been on 12 previous trips with Brian and his great company. We wouldn’t make a single change to the itinerary that was organized for us. The quality and variety of lodges and tent camps that we stayed in never disappointed, and the mixture of cultural experiences with indigenous peoples along with the mind-boggling amount of wildlife left us feeling like we truly experienced Tanzania to the fullest. Brian and his guides have an encyclopedic knowledge of the animals, birds, land, culture, and history of the country they love. They fine-tuned their daily plan according to where animals or birds are most likely to be found, based on their experience as well as communication among their peers.

Since Covid ended, there has been a boom in tourism business in Tanzania. You will have millions of choices to make, and we definitely recommend EWA. EWA owns vehicles and sets up their own seasonal camp that includes spacious wall tents, complete with toilets and showers, as well as a larger dining tent separate from the cook tent. Their chef and camp staff go the extra mile, and their camaraderie is a joy to behold. They work as a solid team to make sure every client is happy throughout the day and evening.

We will be forever grateful to our friend who connected us to EWA and Brian. Three weeks was perfect for our group, but the length and variety of trips can be planned to meet your needs. We have absolutely no hesitation recommending Ecological Wilderness Adventures to anyone wishing to experience and explore Tanzania.

Trust Ecological Adventures for your safari
5/5

This was the second safari we have been on with EA….the first being in 2008. Brian Mengoriki and his staff know the land, the animals, birds, flora and the relationship between. And this knowledge is used to give an excellent trip.

Our safaris with them were a blend of luxury camps and mobile tented camps…blended together and each suited for the local environment.

This is a family business that you can TRUST to give you a memorable safari that you will want to repeat….we did

Incredible Wildlife Encounters in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, plus Gorilla Treks
5/5

This was our second fantastic safari with Brian Mengoriki and Ecological Wilderness Adventures in Tanzania and Uganda. We thought our first 2 week safari in 2007 could not be beat, but our 3 week 2020 safari blew our minds! We had exceptional wildlife encounters in Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Lake Eyasi, Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti and gorilla trekking in Bwindi, Uganda. Brian and his guides Amir Shabani, Fred Kissay and Sammy Sikombe were knowledgeable, highly experienced and skilled spotters and educators. Our group consisted of biologists, teachers and wildlife guides who were interested in birds, mammals, and reptiles, the ecology and culture of Africa as a whole. The service at EWA and other tented camps was excellent. We appreciated staying close to the parks so we could get to the action at first light. Brian arranged for a gorilla trekking expedition to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda for two days of amazing, intimate encounters with mountain gorillas. When on safari, you will see other companies racing around the savannah with jam-packed vehicles of guests who have very brief sightings of some wildlife. With EWA, you have in depth, intimate encounters with trained guides who care about the welfare of the wildlife and the long-term health of the ecosystem. You will have the experience of a lifetime.
