Amazing, Action Packed Night Game Drive
We had a wonderful experience on our night game drive. Mussa (driver), Robert (spotter), and Deo (ranger) did a fantastic job showing us all the things Tarangire National Park had to offer at night.
They were honest with us up front about what we could see and was very optimistic that it would be a successful game drive. And it was very successful! Some of our high lights: watching and driving with 5 lions. They were walking in the road and we just slowly followed behind them. Robert spotted a chameleon on a tree (unsure how he saw it so quickly in the dark). He left the safety of our jeep, walked through a little bit of brush to ensure we saw it too! We also saw zebra, hyenas, silver backed jackal, spotted genets, and scrub hares.
Mussa, Robert, and Deo did a wonderful job sharing the night life with us and making us feel safe. This was an amazing experience that everyone should do!

Amazing safari experience
We (a family of four) had the pleasure of spending seven days on safari with Active Wonders Safaris, and we loved every minute of it.
From the very first communication about our preferences, through the booking process, the itinerary, the accommodation, the safari vehicle, and, most importantly, the guides, everything was exceptionally well organized. One thing we especially appreciated was the feeling of traveling with a small company rather than being part of a large tourist operation. The experience felt personal, flexible, and genuine, and we never felt like just another booking. The team truly went above and beyond to give us the best possible experience. Throughout the trip, we felt completely safe, well looked after, and genuinely entertained.
Baraki was an outstanding driver, handling the challenging roads in both Serengeti and Ngorongoro with great skill. His ability to locate wildlife and his knowledge of the animals were truly impressive. Brian made the entire journey feel relaxed and enjoyable with his kind, helpful, and professional personality. He was fantastic with our children and had a remarkable ability to anticipate what was needed in every situation. Our 10-year-old daughter actually cried when it was time to say goodbye because we had enjoyed spending time with them so much.
We can wholeheartedly recommend Active Wonders Safaris to anyone looking for an unforgettable safari experience.
One thing that surprised us a little was the expected tipping level of around USD 20 per person, per day. We think this is worth mentioning, as it should be factored into the overall safari budget. The guides absolutely deserved every dollar—we simply come from a culture with a different tipping tradition, so it caught us a little by surprise.

Amazing experience with experienced guides!
Absolutely lovely. Allano have been so good to talk with and helping us making this trip the best. And Emanuel who was our guide in the safari was an absolutely rock, we did the extra everyday for us to see the animal we wanted. You can see that they really love their jobs.
Thank you for making our honeymoon the best!

Excellent!
My wife and I went on a safari in Kenya this month, and it was a life-changing experience! Allano was extremely helpful and readily available from the start of our planning right up to the last day of the trip. We faced personal health issues that altered our travel plans more than once, but thanks to the proactivity of Allano and his team, we were able to overcome these setbacks and reorganize everything to ensure the trip was perfect. It was great knowing we could rely on the company whenever we needed to. Our guide in Kenya was also very pleasant and took us to wonderful places. If I return to Africa, definitely I would choose Active Wonders again.

We had an amazing time. Allano was extremely responsive, worked within our budget, and provided a trip that we'll exceeded our expectations. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. We saw the big 5 and the great migration twice.

They were extremely attentive to our needs. We were very satisfied with the suggested itinerary and
We took our trip – me, my husband, and our 2-year-old son. We looked for agencies that understood our needs, especially since we were traveling with a baby. During the itinerary planning, they understood exactly what we needed and offered us a perfect trip for a child. We requested a car seat for the safari vehicle, and they readily provided one. They were incredibly considerate of us having a child with us. They suggested accommodations with children's entertainment. Everything was great. Throughout the trip, they were attentive and always available.

They came to pick me and my wife at Karatu on time. The car was in great condition and the driver was so knowledgeable with Ngorongoro crater, he made us feel comfortable. We did a day trip but we managed to cover all the big 5 animals. He made our travel memorable

Fantastic Safari Experience in Tanzania with Active Wonders Safaris
We booked our East Africa trip through Imara Africa Safaris, and the Tanzania portion was organized by their partner, Active Wonders Safaris. It was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, incredible wildlife, and genuine hospitality.
Our guide, Amiri (goes by the name Cheena), was absolutely exceptional — knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about wildlife and conservation. He had an amazing eye for spotting animals and made every game drive exciting and educational. His sense of humor made the long drives and full days in the parks truly enjoyable.
At one point, our vehicle broke down due to rough road conditions (just one of many in the Serengeti) — a reminder of how unpredictable the African terrain can be. Cheena handled the situation so well and made sure our trip doesn’t get compromised beyond a minor inconvenience. Another reminder of why having a great tour guide is a very critical component. Just a note, it is very common for vehicle breakdown to happen due to the road conditions in Serengeti and definitely you can’t blame the tour operator.
We were impressed by the team’s organization, communication, and genuine care throughout the journey. From tented camp in the middle of the Serengeti to breathtaking wildlife sightings (a few lion prides and live Cheetah hunt to name a few) in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, every moment was well planned and memorable. Their professionalism, flexibility, and personal touch made this an experience we’ll never forget.

overall great organisation of our 8 day safari despite some flaws
Overall, I had a great 8-day safari experience with Active Wonders Safari. Communication before and after the booking was always prompt and effective.
The lodges during our trip ranged from decent to good, and the food was mostly good—sometimes even excellent.
When we booked our safari a few months in advance, our most preferred lodges were already fully booked. So, if you're planning to travel during high season, I recommend booking at least 8 months in advance to have more choices in terms of accommodation and location within the national parks.
Our safari vehicle (a Toyota) was very spacious (we were a group of four), new, and in great condition—no complaints there.
Our guide, Prime, was a very nice guy (though sometimes a bit shy) who clearly knows and respects the rules within the national parks.
This worked very well in the less crowded areas, especially around the Mara River during the annual wildebeest migration. However, since many other guides don't obey the park rules, we occasionally missed out on the best spots or views near the Mara River.
At times, we felt we had to tell Prime where to stop or where to go for the best sightings—something we had expected our experienced guide/driver to manage more proactively.
That said, he still made my trip very enjoyable.
My friends would have also liked some more proactive communication from Prime’s side; especially in terms of information regarding wildlife, geography, NP etc;
I, However, prefer to watch and enjoy the scene, rather than hear too much talking. This is matter of taste.
The Flaws:
Communication and transparency:
When we booked our trip, we specifically requested a particular guide with excellent references. He was already booked on another trip, so we agreed on our second-choice guide—an arrangement Active Wonders confirmed.
However, when I asked for our guide's contact details one day before the trip, we were surprised to receive the contact for someone else—Prime—who ultimately acted as our guide. We were told our originally agreed-upon guide had fallen ill and was therefore unavailable.
This change came as a surprise, and no proactive communication was provided by Active Wonders regarding the switch.
Additionally, our guide didn’t seem to be fully informed about what was included in our package.
Sodas and wine as well as water were promised as part of our tour, and Prime was supposed to purchase them before picking us up in Mwanza. We were only offered water the first 4 days during the Safari. When we raised this issue with Active Wonders Safari, they apologized and promised that Prime would buy them after four days when we reached a larger town outside of Serengeti National Park.
Clearly, the company failed to communicate the package details to our guide before the trip started. No compensation or alternative solution was offered for the first four days.
Overall, I still recommend Active Wonders Safari and would consider traveling with them again—but make sure to clearly communicate your expectations well in advance of the trip.

An adventure that was beyond my expectations. Brilliant
This was such an amazing trip that covered the Ngoronggoron crater area with all its wildlife roaming freely the Serengeti and the migration of the Wildebeests crossing over into Kenya. Wonderful varied accomadation from well equipped tents with all amenities to hotels and lodges. Zebras lions with cubs bathing hippos leopards during the night safari and numerous birds including vultures waiting for their next meal. Elephants and giraffes were everywhere so all in all this was a fabulous tour. Spent time in a Masai camp where we interacted with a tribe participating in a dance and visited a school room where the children are learning Swahili and English. Our travel also took us to Zanzibar where we were met by knowledgable guides. My friend and I loved the ornate doors and alley ways. With lots of souvenirs to take back home. Highly recommend Active Wonders Safari and thank Allano Fred for his expertise in putting together our trip
