I recently took the Day Trip from Addis Ababa to Debre Libanos and the Portuguese Bridge with Danakil Depression Tours, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences during my time in Ethiopia.
The journey from Addis Ababa was smooth and well-organized. Along the way, we passed through beautiful highland scenery, with stunning views of the Jemma River Gorge. The landscapes alone made the trip worth it—rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and plenty of opportunities for photos.
At Debre Libanos Monastery, the atmosphere was peaceful and spiritual. Our guide explained the history and religious importance of the site in a very engaging way, which made the visit much more meaningful. We also had the chance to see local wildlife, including baboons near the cliffs.
The highlight for me was the Portuguese Bridge. The views from there are absolutely breathtaking, especially overlooking the gorge and nearby waterfall. It’s a perfect spot to relax, take photos, and just enjoy nature.

The Day Trip from Addis Ababa to Mount Zuqualla with Danakil Depression Tours was a perfect combination of nature, culture, and relaxation.
Located not far from the city, Mount Zuqualla is a beautiful destination for a quick escape. The drive itself was enjoyable, passing through rural landscapes and small villages that give you a glimpse of everyday life.
Once we reached the mountain, the hike was refreshing and not too difficult. At the summit, there’s a stunning crater lake known as Lake Dembel, surrounded by forest and peaceful scenery. The area is also home to an ancient monastery, which adds a strong spiritual and historical atmosphere to the visit.
The calmness at the top was the highlight—fresh air, scenic views, and a quiet environment that makes it easy to disconnect from the busy city life.

A group of friends and I joined the 2 Days Awash National Park Tour with Danakil Depression Tours, and it was an incredible wildlife and nature experience.
The park is full of beautiful landscapes, hot springs, waterfalls, and wildlife. During the trip, we saw animals such as gazelles, baboons, and several beautiful bird species. One of the highlights was visiting the stunning Awash Falls and relaxing near the natural hot springs.
The safari drive through the park was exciting, and spending time in nature with friends made the experience even more enjoyable.
