FAQ – Trusted Safari Companies

What documents do we require from tour operators?

For any company to advertise their tours on SafariBookings, we require the following:

  • A Business Registration document
  • A Tax Clearance Certificate
  • An Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) document showing the company’s main beneficial owners. We verify all main shareholders’ identities before approval through our partner CheckIn. Identities are checked for validity as well as against sanction and anti-money laundering lists
  • A valid tour operator license for all safari countries, where applicable

Who can apply for a SafariBookings account?

Any company that offers tours to the specific countries that we platform, has all the required licenses and documents for their particular country, and accepts clients from all over the world, is allowed to apply for a SafariBookings account. You can read more about the requirements before applying to be a tour operator.

Does every tour operator on SafariBookings have a valid tour operator license?

For all countries that allow a company to obtain a tour operator license, we require tour operators to possess one before advertising on SafariBookings. We check every tour operator to make sure they have a valid tour operator license in their country of establishment. In addition to this, tour operators may also possess additional licenses (such as a mountain climbing license) or be part of tourism associations, but these are not mandatory. Be sure to ask the tour operator directly if you have any questions.

Can one person own multiple SafariBookings accounts?

No, we generally do not allow any individual to be a shareholder of multiple companies on SafariBookings. The only exception is if these companies address completely different regions and markets. This policy ensures fair competition among tour operators, prevents manipulation of reviews and rankings, and keeps our directory free of duplicate listings.

Are tour operators ever removed from SafariBookings?

Tour operators must, at all times, adhere to our partnership agreement and editorial guidelines. Failure to comply can result in the temporary or permanent suspension of their account.

However, aside from rare circumstances, we do not remove company listings entirely. Transparency is of utmost importance to us, and even though a company may no longer be advertising on our platform, we can and often do still show its profile, with any relevant warnings and reviews also highlighted to help inform potential future clients.

I expected to find a tour or company, but it is no longer showing on SafariBookings. What happened?

Tour operators and their tours are only advertised as long as they have a positive advertising balance on SafariBookings. A tour operator’s tours may therefore (temporarily) be invisible in between advertising periods.

How is ranking affected by payment? Can you pay to be shown first on SafariBookings?

SafariBookings employs a complex algorithm to show the most relevant results for any given user search. While payment does partially influence ranking, it is not the only variable. Our website heavily weighs other factors such as reviews, expected performance and tour availability. Additionally, to ensure a diverse selection, only one tour per operator is shown on any search results page. Read more about our ranking system.
