Day 1
Tarangire National park
Tarangire National park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you to Tarangire National Park. The journey takes approximately two and a half hours along well-maintained tarmac roads. Named after the Tarangire River—the so-called “river of warthogs”—the park provides the only reliable water source for wildlife during the dry season. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, often seen gathered along the river, as well as giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. These herbivores attract a variety of predators, including lions and leopards. Bird enthusiasts will delight in the park’s extraordinary diversity, which boasts more breeding species than anywhere else in the world. Towering ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, punctuate the landscape.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site within the park. Following your game drive, you will continue to your accommodation in Karatu for the evening.
