Arrival and Transfer to Musanze

After breakfast in Kigali, drive 2.5 hours north to Musanze, Rwanda’s gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of rolling hills, farms, and volcanic peaks. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy a hot lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first cycling adventure around the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Ride along quiet trails that wind through small villages, terraced fields, and lake shores with opportunities to meet local farmers and fishermen. Capture breathtaking photos of the lakes set against the backdrop of the Virunga volcanoes. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay in Musanze.

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early for a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience. After a briefing at park headquarters, set off with guides and rangers into the dense rainforest. The trek can take 2–6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once found, spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, play, and interact. This is a rare chance for close-up photography and learning about gorilla behavior from experts. After trekking, enjoy a late lunch at your lodge and spend the evening at leisure. Optional: short cultural biking ride to a nearby village. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Mountain Biking & Return to Kigali

On your final day, set out for a guided mountain biking adventure along scenic countryside trails near Musanze. Routes vary from gentle rides through banana plantations to more challenging tracks around the foothills of Mount Sabyinyo. This is a perfect way to explore Rwanda’s landscapes off the beaten path while connecting with locals you meet along the way. After the ride, return to your lodge for brunch, then drive back to Kigali (2.5 hours) for either your evening flight or onward stay.
