1-Day Kilimanjaro Hike via Marangu Route, Short Trek

• You'll be collected from the airport.

Your day begins early with a pick-up from your hotel, followed by a scenic drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m), the official starting point of the Marangu Route. At the gate, you’ll register, and receive a briefing about the hike.

The trek starts with a gentle ascent into Kilimanjaro’s dense montane rainforest, where you’ll walk under a canopy of ancient trees draped with moss. Along the way, keep your eyes open for blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and a variety of tropical birds.

After about 3–4 hours of hiking, you’ll reach Mandara Hut (2,720m), where climbers usually spend their first night during summit expeditions. Here, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch while taking in the fresh mountain air and beautiful views.

In the afternoon, you’ll descend back through the forest to Marangu Gate, where your vehicle will be waiting. The return journey to Moshi or Arusha will have you back at your lodge by evening—ending your Kilimanjaro Day Hike with unforgettable memories of Africa’s highest mountain.
